My Maytag LDG9824AAE dryer had a broken belt. I replaced the belt with the part from maytag and it isn't holding tension. I can see the grease marks from the previous position of the pulley wheel and an tell that the wheel needs to be farther to the right to produce tension but it is not staying there. Can you please give me some suggestions?
Go here and look at number 22,it's a tention spring,it pops off easily when belt is removed, make sure spring is connected to pulley arm

http://www.youtube.com/user/RepairClinic... go here and make sure you have belt on correctly if spring is ok,rap the belt around the pulley and inside the metal bracket kind of looks like a v,then grab the belt opposite the motor pulley and pull belt over and around motor pulley, when you feel belt connected the belt that went on motor pulley should be next to other side of belt and in the v.hope you i explained this clearly for you,i just know how to install the belt without thinking, trying how to do it is harder than installing it lol.hope this helps, the older maytag belt is a little tricky compared to other belts

Don, the drum on this model rotates on a bearing in back. This is most likely where the sqeeling is comming from. You will have to service this from the front. Should be 2 screws just above the door on each side. Remove them and the top will lift up. Slide the top off forward. Once the top is off, you will see a couple of screws holding the the front panel and door assy. on. One on each side inside front panel. Unplug the door harness and remove the front panel and door. Undo the belt and the drum should pull straight out. Watch out not to get the belt hung on the motor. Now you will see the rear bearing and shaft bracket that the drum rides on. It may need to be replaced or just lubed up real good. Catriver.

The belt needs to be above the metal. Otherwise the repair looks good. Easy fix. Thanks for the pic.

looking at the back of the motor where the belt pulley is you would grasp belt coming down from the left side of drum then come across the top of belt pulley that is on motor shaft going clockwise around that pulley then continue back to your left and over the top of belt tension pulley going counterclockwise around that pulley this is when you will have to raise pulley against spring pressure to get belt on then release belt tension pulley make sure that belt is still in belt groove on the drum hope this helps ed
