No power to bosch classixx 6 1400 express

Changed the brushes on the motor the other day then had to clear an f21 fault which i did and all has been well for a week we do a wash ever day. during the latest wash i smelt a burning smell came on very quickly and just as quickly went away i looked round at the washer and no power, looked at the boards in the control unit everything looks ok no leaking bits n bobs and no sine of any thing heating up and burning out, checked the motor was reading 24 ohm and changed when i rotated the spindle. neither the board or motor smell of burning pump motor seams ok too any ideas i'm at the end of my experience lol

Here the reset procedure:

  1. Ensure that there is no water in the washer.
  2. Turn the timer knob knob to OFF position.
  3. Close the washer door.
  4. Turn the timer knob to 6 o clock and wait until you see the start/pause button flashing.
  5. Press and hold SPIN button.
  6. Advance the timer knob to next part of cycle (7 o clock position).
  7. Wait 5 seconds.
  8. Leave the button.
  9. Set the timer knob to off position.
  10. Trip circuit breaker for two minutes and restart if the reset did not work.

If that does not work, then there is still a problem. F21 indicates that problem can be motor, wiring or electronic control module. Try the reset a couple of times if that does not work at first try.

Question How do you know it is not a motor fault have you tested the motor? If you look up that error code it comes up as F21 Motor fault this is the basic step to get rid of the error code
Turn the knob to the off position.
Turn the knob to the 6 o'clock position.
Wait till the start light flashes.
Press and hold the spin button.
While holding it, turn the knob to the 7 o'clock position.
Release the spin button.
Turn the knob to off.

Turn on and try the machine again.
Would need your entire model number for exact solution to this issue with any one of the four I await your reply to the model numbers Thanks Rick

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
I know that it's not exactly what you were hoping to hear/see but what follows is my (pre-typed) advice to others about washer motors possibly failing. I will understand if you do not wish to score this.

It does sound as if the motor requires replacement.
Now, a word or two of advice; it might be suggested that just the brushes on the motor want changing; experience (of others) suggests that they may only last months rather than many years UNLESS the motor itself is refurbished. Refurbishment includes skimming the commutator on which the brushes run. Without skimming the brushes do not sit cleanly on the com, often causing excessive sparking and excessive wear on BOTH. Alternately a new motor! I changed the motor (and belt) on our 19+ year-old Bosch at a cost of GBP250 ;-0(

I have a Bosch Exxcel 7 1400 express, had F21 error which I cleared but now when set to wash, water comes in but the drum doesn't move.

F21 refers to the carbon brushes in the motor so price new brushes - if you are handy they are easy to fit and not expensive - but if you can't do it yourself i personally wouldn't spend too much on repairing a 5 year old machine

F21 is a motor fault and in some cases can also involve a module fault. It could be as simple as the brushes need replacing or the drum has been severely out of balance.

There is no reset as such, if the motor shorted when the motor brushes went there is a good chance that it blew the motor tracking or relay on the board. Sometime this is indicated by F20 or F21. Unfortunately this will be a new board. You could try to run a motor test as follows:
Hold in the start button while turning the dial one click to the left (30 easycare) wait until the display shows 888 or two indicators light up next to dial.
Release start and turn dial to 60 cotton (WITHOUT GOING THRO THE OFF).
Press start
This should start a motor test
slow turn one way, slow turn the other, pump on then up to full spin.
(some machines will show the rpm on the display).
If this does not work, you probably need to change the module aswell.

F21 has appeared on my Bosch classixx 6 1200 model

F21 normally indicates a fault with the motor or the main control board. It could be the motor brushes need changing.
If you've changed the brushes you now need to erase the stored errors and try the machine again.
Turn the knob to off.
Close the door.
Turn the knob to 6 o'clock position.
Wait 2 seconds.
The start/pause should begin flashing.
Press and hold the spin button. (the spin button is the one that changes the spin speed, it may be marked "RPM")
Turn the knob to 7 o'clock position.
Wait 2 seconds.
Release the button.
Turn the knob to off.
This should erase the error code and get you running again.
If the error code returns, you have a problem with the motor, wiring or main control.
If the machine won't go into diagnostics to erase the error code, it would suggest a faulty control board.
Try it several times to see if you get it reset.
Note, If the start button doesn't flash, just carry on trying to erase the codes.

Motor brushes replaced but fault F21 still indicated in the display panel. How do I get the machine to work ?

F21 means motor or control board fault. Usually its the motor. If you have replaced the brushes and it doesn't work then its most likely the motor is faulty. Not a cheap fix.

F21 relates to a motor or control board fault.

However, it is also caused by spikes in the mains and can be spurious.

To reset it.

Turn the appliance knob to the off or reset position, 12 o'clock.

Turn the knob to the 6 o'clock position.

Press and hold the spin button.

While holding it, turn the knob to the 7 o'clock position.

Continue holding the spin button for about 5 seconds.

Release the button.

Turn the knob to off.

When your turn it back on it should have cleared the error code

Bosch classixx 1000 express wont spin

Check the motor housing for an overload button, usually on the back and coloured black or red. Give it a push and if it clicks then the motor might have just been a bit stressed out and popped it.

Next two things are more serious unfortunately. The relay on the circuit board might have burnt contacts from switching the motor over the machines life, or, one of the motors windings has developed a fault. (these are both pretty rare though).

Changing the brushes when the motor is off

Remove belt, unscrew 2 bolts that hold the motor, unplug the motor connector, lever the motor back with a screwdriver. Check the motor brushes, if they are any shorter than 1 cm replace brushes.
