That model is so far out of date it's near impossible to find a manual. You can find some solutions to FAQ here:

Error 8= Not logged on. sign a clerk in.
Error 1= Haven't finished before turning key. Finish in the mode you were in first, then turn key.
If it is not one of these, please supply error number or message.

The problem you have is the model. This one is known for printer failure. The other models are fine. The model before it used the same printer and had the same fault. I couldn't believe it when they did not change the printer for the new model to fix the problem. Take the register back to the shop and tell them it is rubbish and you want your money back.

Your mode switch position was changed before finalization. You will need to return the mode switch to its original setting and finalize the operation.
