6A00 service error with canon printer

6A00 Is the code for a paper path feed error. this is sometimes caused by the purge unit becoming clogged with debris. The purge unit sits underneath the cartridge print head and is designed to keep the ink flowing and clear. Turn the printer on, lift the lid so the cartridges move to the center and turn off. Look where the cartridges normally sit and you will see a sponge housed in a plastic frame. Move this frame back and forward, remove the cartridges and replace them, then turn the printer back on.
If this does not solve the problem then unfortunately a replacement printer of a service call to canon is un-avoidable.

Check the purge unit: Moving the print head assembly will not clear a purge unit if its jammed with paper, paper clips, push pins, screws, cookie crisp, flower bud pods or the like.

Press the ink pads down in the purge unit.

Had this error and did the following to solve the problem.
Turn the printer off.
Open the top cover and move the printer cartridge to the left.
On the right you can see a white part.
Press it down.
Turn the printer on.

if that doesnt help then there its better to call canon...

This is what I found from a service manual: AP position error [6A00] - Sheet feed unit (QM2-1220) - Logic board ***'y (QM2-1786)*1

6A00 indicates that "an error occurred in the AP motor
during purging operation". This is a service call error and requires that the printer be brought into a canon authorized service facility for repair. The service facility would be able to fully diagnose the problem and properly repair it.

Had this error and did the following to solve the problem.
Turn the printer off.
Open the top cover and move the printer cartridge to the left.
On the right you can see a white part.
Press it down.
Turn the printer on.

A600 or 6A00. If 6A00 then the fault code is for the AP motor position error. Error lies with the sheet feed unit, Purge unit or Logic board.

This might have something to do with canon's absurd print cartridge limitation agreement.... where the print cartridge will only print for a certain limit and then locks
