Ok, so i had a P4 and a cheap MSI board that I recently upgraded. went shopping, now I have this setup:
Windows XP PRO
Corsair VX550 psu
AMD Athlon X2 2.7GHZ Dual Core
ASUS M4A78 PRO Mobo
NVIDIA 8800 GT
2GB Corsair XMS 800mhz RAM
Antec 900 case with 3 fans
and a 320 GB WD Baracuda HDD.
Now, I got to the bios, past that, etc. It boots to windows. after that loading windows xp screen, the monitor shows the blue screen of death but only for a split second, then it auto-restarts. I can access windows thru the safe mode, though i can't really do much there because everything isn't available in safe mode. What can I do?
PS- Also, when trying to install ASUS's driver package through the CD they supplied with the motherboard i get a kernel error, and cannot load it. so basically i bought a motherboard with no drivers to support itself?
sounds to me like you either have a conflict of hardware or your os windows xp wasn't meant for your hardware some manufacturers design there products now to be vista only so read you manuals and make sure of that then try reloading xp but with bare essntials to run a pc that is
