Hello, your computer is not seeing your hard drive. First you need to check if your hard drive is bad by pressing the F2 button when you power it on. You will see the bios at this point which normally you will see information on the first page that contains the hard drive info. If you do not see it then your hard drive is bad. If you do see your hard drive your can do a system restore by restarting the pc and once is powers on and you see the acer screen, try hold alt + F10 until you can get to the factory recovery. The factory recovery will delete all of our data and restore it back to out of box settings.

Laptop came with windows 7 factory installed on it. A friend accidently formatted the hard drive.

Either download an installer disk on to a DVD or partition a harddrive with an installer disk on it. Boot from that disk and restart the computer, it should boot up and ask to install Windows 7.

What's your problem?how do i set my old computer to factor settings

you will need to put the windows disc into the cdrom drive, and set the bios so it boots from cdrom first,
if you didnt get a windows disc you should have been asked to make a recovery disc when you first bought the pc, and same procedure with setting bios.

System Repair? Help?

Insert the disc in the tray. Restart the computer. The computer will not boot in the normal mode but will boot with the repair disc. Now follows he instructions to complete the repair or complete pc restore. It is easy to understand.
If you restart the computer after inserting the disc 1 in the tray and the computer does not boot with the disc. then restart again and keep tapping F9 key and it will ask you to boot from cd/dvd rom so select it and press enter and it will boot with the cd. It might ask you to press any key to boot from cd. You may press any key on the keyboard at the very moment you see the message.

No Laptops can run with out the battery in. I would say make sure everything is plugged in securely and all that. If you still have problems feel free to ask I will be glad to help.

Hope this helped.

I just bought a toshiba satellite 5005-s504 on ebay it was shipped to me and all programming has been deleted I need to reload windows xp how do I do this I have a disc for windows xp but the laptop will...

When the computer starts to boot up does it ask you to boot to CD/DVD?
1. If so put the xp disc in the drive and turn on the power when it asks you to boot to CD/DVD press any key. This will start the installation process.
2. If it does not ask you to boot to CD/DVD you will have to go into Bios and change the boot priority to boot to disk drive first. save the settings and do the first step over again

Disc recovery management

NTLDR is a file that Windows XP needs to boot up, it is one of the first files your PC attemps to use when booting...

There are a couple of options available to you

The easiest being to take the laptop back to the supplier ( you didnt give any discription of the make or model ) and ask them to reload Windows XP. This should be at no cost if it is still under warranty )

Your second option will be to try and repair the CD...

Try the following, gently use toothpaste with a soft cloth and rub the disc in small circles, wash the disc off with warm water, dry gently and try the restore again..

Your third option is to try and boot of a Windows XP ( Same version as you had, either Professional or Home ( Borrow one from a friend, but do return it when you have finished )

Let the install run, it will come to a point where it asks if it should repair, select this option and run through the install...

Good luck !.

if you mean you cannot log on to windows, then press F8 while booting up, then this will take you into safe mode, select start windows in safe mode and then choose the administrator account and go into windows, make yourself a new user account, then delete the paswsorded one and restart the notebook.
