First, use a utility knife to remove as much old caulk as possible. Buy caulk(and caulk gun) that is WATER based, DO NOT buy silicone. Cut the tip for about a 1/8 inch hole. Do one wall at a time. Start on a short wall and squirt a bead as best you can. Use your finger to pack it in then wipe it with a wet but well wringed out old t-shirt until your happy with how it looks. Repeat on other walls. John

Bathtub wall was cut short and is leaking to downstairs when we take showers

Fill the space with liquid foam filler made for water areas. this will seal and fill the space, keep it below the surface as it does expand and will go above the tubs line. let it dry the recommended time and cut off the excess with a razor blade. once that's done then you can caulk normally to hide the foam.

It is probably one of two things. Either there is a seal where the tube and spout come together or you may have a spot of caulking that has hardened to the point that it will not come out. Thank you.

We are ready to install the Duracraft Plastics Schedule 40 Foot Lok style bath drain and have a question on the foot lok drain gasket. Does the gasket install on the inside or outside of the bathtub and...

The gasket is installed on the outside of the tub. Use plumbers putty under the male end on the inside of the tub as it stays permanantly flexible and will not mildew like silicone caulking can. Do not silicone or use plumbers putty on the gasket. The gasket will seal nicely under pressure from the connections.

I have a cracked and damaged area on the bottom of my fiberglass tub insert. Can I fix it myself? Where would I find the kit needed? Thanks.

My secondary bathtub is that way. I was told it was just a surface crack and wouldnt leak. It can be fixed with a fiberglass boat repair kit. However, it would not look very good. I took clear caulk and squirted into mine and it seems to be working fine. Once you put the caulk in rub it in with your fingertip and remove the excess.

My tub surrounding is about a half a inch wide

You may want to try to find some thin ceramic tile beading and gluing it in place and caulking the remaining gap. Use a waterproof construction glue. This is most likely to be something you customize to fit. Often you can rent a ceramic wet saw and cut tiling to fit the need. Use proper safety gear, and be particularly careful if ripping thin pieces less you gain the nickname stubby.
