Undoing the "safe mode"

I don't know if I hit a comibation of keys but I went into the "safe mode" and I can't come out of it. It does say to hit any key to wake up the board/system, but I tried that and I'm still on "safe mode".

Do I need to reboot? Will it be safe to do that?

Please help.
Sincerely,
Connie

Yes, you should be able to reboot and it should automatically go back into regular mode.

If it doesn't, upon the next reboot tap the F8 key after your computer starts. A menu should appear with safe mode and start windows normally. Select the normal option. If a "boot menu" appears, select the hard drive, press enter then immediately hit the F8 key again for that menu although it should just reboot right into regular mode.

Thanks and please take a moment to rate this solution with a fixya rating.

Try booting up in safe mode then Restore your system back to a date and time before you came across that web page and started having problems.

Turn off the computer, then hit the power button to turn itback on and immediately start hitting the F8 key repeatedly until you see SAFEMODE. Take the Safe Mode option and let it boot up. Safe Mode will lookdifferent to you, the screen will be darker and the icons bigger, this isnormal.Click Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore
Select a Restore Point (date and time) that is before you started having problems. You don't have to use the restore point that is shown just select option to see more restore points. When System Restore finishes, reboot your computer.Report back and let us know if it is solved or not.

How restart laptop using f bottons

You don't restart a laptop using the Function Keys (F1 thru F12). You restart the laptop by hitting the power button. The function keys will allow you to boot the laptop in SAFE MODE if you repeatedly hit the F8 key until you see the Safe Mode option after you hit the power button. Function keys will also allow you to change the boot order, go into the BIOS or Setup to change things also. You need to state your problem as to what is going on with your laptop.

Lewis:

First off, I am sorry that you are experiencing this problem. When you start the computer, hit the F8 key, this should take you to a menu that will ask you to start in Last known good configuration, start in safe mode, safe mode in networking, safe mode with command prompt, etc.

If you can get this screen, first try to start in last known good configuration. If that does not work, go thru the process again and see if you can start in safe mode.

Try this and let me know what happens.

Clicking on any web site, I will be re-directed somewhere else and sometimes it will bring an error that I don't have an internet connection when I know I do. Could this a netgear wireless router issue or...

Hi, I can suggest you to try going online using your neighbour's wireless connection. So you can easily find out whether its the issue with the internet service provider or anything wrong with the browser.

However please try going online in safe mode with networking.

Turn on your computer and start tapping the key "F8". You will get screen that says safe mode, safe mode with networking. Use your down arrow key and highlight the "safe mode with networking" , then hit enter. It'll take you to the safe mode (where few features in the normal mode will be disabled). Here try going online, If you don face the issue here it could be a virus thats blocking.

Please vote this solution if you think this might help others:) Thank you

If you're running XP try this:

1) Restart in Safe Mode. Restart and as soon as you see something on the screen start hitting your F8 key
This will take you to a boot option list. Highlight safe mode and hit enter. Wait for it to finish booting in safe mode.
2) Remember that 9/10 PCs running XP do not have any password on the Administrator account that shows up when you boot in Safe Mode.
3) Login to said Admin account.
4)go to START -> RUN -> "control userpasswords2" (without the quotes) in the runbox. Click on ok.
5) You should then be able to reset your password.

If this solves your problem PLEASE rate this as fixed. If it didn't, or your running Vista, DO NOT rate yet just add a comment letting me know what happened and I'll be happy to assist you further. Thanks Maria.
