Question about Jandy Heater Temperature Control Assembly R0011700

Laars Lite 2 Pool Heater max temperature too low

I had the Pool Heater Temperature Control Unit replaced last year. System runs well, but does not reach temperature that had been possible in previous controller. Do I need to replace entire unit or can I isolate a single component?

SOURCE: Main Burner Will only stay on with mid range temperature setting

Thermostat is bad. There is a micro switch behind the dial that reacts to the temp probe and you may try cleaning it out first but in my experience replacing the t-stat is usually required.

Heater wont come on. pool side of temperature control failed about 2 years ago. now I'm thinking the spa side failed and need to replace the temp control unit. Is this a logical assumption? I'm a handy guy...

The most common problems with these heaters are the control board, and the pressure switch. The pressure switch is much cheaper, and easier to replace.Try jumping the switch first(but don't leave it that way). Also be sure the line isn't clogged by turning the pump on for a second while the switch is removed. You should get a steady stream of water. Electronic parts are usually not returnable, so exhaust all other options first.

Every year I have a problem getting it to light. The pilot is lit but the heater will not turn on. It is 8 years old and I have been having trouble with it since day one. My pool guy comes out fires it up...

First, check the gas valve and make sure the valve in all the way to "on" not "pilot".After shutting to off for the winter, and not turning the valve all the way on start up could be it. If that is ok, check/replace the pilot generator next to the pilot lite. One question. Does the pilot go out soon after calling for heat? Next, if you have it on "spa" or "pool" on the temperature adjusting module, try the other setting. eg. If it is on "pool", switch the knob to "spa" and adjust the temperature.

The heater come on and cycles on and off, but the water no longer reaches the correct temperature. Pool techicina has replaced the thermostat and disassembled and cleaned something, but it still will not...

This could be the flow rate / value...maybe the unit is under rated in its BTU value. But if it did work fine and heat the water ok then its not this...next thing would be the system control switches...each of these needs to be tested one by one to see if it cutting out the system too early...failing that it is the flame being produced and the heat value is cold see if the flames are blue or yellow...blue is fine nice and hot yellow is too cold to heat the water passing through

I have a laars swimming pool heater, there is gas coming into the valve unit but it will not pass the valve block to light the pilot light.

Disconnect the pilot tube from the valve and pass a thin wire through it to make sure it is not blocked. Spiders have been known to nest in tubes off-season. If the tube is clear and the gas still won't flow through then the valve block probably needs to be replaced. If the high temperature limit has been tripped the valve will have to be replaced as high limit safety does not reset.

Electronic pilot lights but unit will not fire

Make sure the pipes are full of water. Check the thermostat to see if it is calling for heat. Make sure the thermostat is set to a temperature higher than the current temp of the water. If all those things are OK then the gas valve coils may have to be replaced.
