SOURCE: need a blade engagement cable diagram for a 2002 craftsman lt1000

as far as i know, there is no diagram available for the cable replacement. it is covered briefly in the owner's manual, but the best way to do it is to study carefully how the old one is routed, and replace a step at a time

The blade engagement cable broke on my 42" mower. I bought a new cable assembly and replaced it. Now the mower will not even turn over. Any ideas?

Replacement of the cable may have resulted in trying to start with the blades engaged. Adjustment may be necessary.

Blades not egaging.

Check your ground wire. Follow the wire from your engage switch and or button. The ground wire may need tightened. I had a john deere and this problem was intermittent then if finally didn't work at all. I called the dealer and he walked me through the problem. sure enough the ground connection was not only loose but needed cleaning and tightening. Never had the problem again. hope this helps solve your problem.

Blades do not turn

Bearing could be out on deck if a rider may have to replace spindle assembly or a if it is not engaging to turn on the blades check cables and belts. On a pushmower a key could need to be placed, or mower cable not engaging.

Two springs broke underneath the riding lawn mower 3800 and we don't know where to replace them at, they engage the gears.

First make sure you can still engage the blades. Many mowers use a cable attached to a spring to engage the blades. If that is one of the springs, you need a new cable. For the other I will need more information, like what kind of mower is it?How many blades?Another thing to look for is worn or torn holes that the springs attach to.

Blades won't engage but belts are fine

If the cable is broken, replace it. If not have someone sit in the seat and engage the blades (WITH THE ENGINE OFF) while you check to see if the belt tightens up when it is engaged. It is possible that it is dirty and/or rusty and not letting the engagement pulley do its job

Cable streched on swisher trailmower

Pull the belt cover off on the side of the engage lever and you will see that it is not a wire cable that engages the idler pulley. It's a rod connected to a long spring. Perhaps the spring came off or is defective as it puts tension on the idler pulley against the drive belt when you engage the blades. Further, there is a return spring to pull the idler pulley away from the drive belt when you disengage the blades. Check all the connections for the springs and see that the engage lever is mounted tightly. Also check the idler pulley itself.
