Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

I just bought a Sanyo 42 inch tv DP42841 model and the sound is super weird. Kind of fuzzy and scratchy especially if we turn it up past like 10. I have called the company and they already told me how to adjust it on the tv but no matter what we do it doesn't sounds normal. How do we fix it? We bought it from Wal Mart and I guess we only had 15 days to return it, and it has been past 15.

SOURCE: polaroid television dead

I fixed my dead FLM-2632 by replacing the large black 150uf 450 volt power supply capacitor. I used a $4.09 Digi-key PN P14080-ND 420 volt 150UF Cap since I only power the TV on 110 vac. ( )The Rubycon 450 volt 150 uf Cap is no longer manufactured because it has poor life in a high ripple current switching power suppy application like used in many TVs. If you are not experienced in soldering, don't attrmpt this repair on your own. You have to cut the leads on the old Cap before you can carefully pry the old cap loose from the RTV. Use solder wick to clean the terminals before installing the new Cap. Hope this helps!

Volume keeps going down

This is a problem with the sound select board, and there is no real solution. One thing to try is to press the manual volume up or down buttons on the side of the TV and keep them depressed to see of remote volume control is restored. This over rides the volume creep issue. I solved this by shorting the UP control to ground and the creep went away, but there is no manual volume control any more, but the remote still works.

That sounds like a faulty LCD panel tab. The only true fix is to replace the screen. This usually isn't cost effective.

I just bought a sanyo dp42841. I used to have the same tv in a smaller size. The first tv was hooked up to the cable and worked fine. When I attached the same cable to the new tv it's not able to find...

Be sure your cable is hooked up good and if you did not auto scan you must do this (auto scan) Found in the menu setup. Use the remote and press menu and it is usually found easily. Highlight the auto scan and start the scan usually by pressing volume +

Hello my Sanyo dp42849 42 inch has no picture and no sound. when i turn on the tv a green light in the bottom right hand corner comes on and occasionally flashes off and then back on.

First, you need to know the sub-model of your TV.

It is called "chassis" and is shown on the back of the TV on the label where the model number is shown.

For example it can be "P42849-00" or "P42849-01".

Then search at or just go to and enter the link for SANYO DP SERIES to search for that.

Here's an example of a repair service (note it may NOT be the one for your exact model though!):

Hope this helps!
