If all burners are working correctly then put a bypass on heater plumbing open it half way to slow down water flow that will give you a higher heat rise

SOURCE: Error code LO

Is the heater installed indoors?? if so you'll need a vent pressure orifice kit.
if not check your water press. (below 18 PSI on filter) Place filter on "recir" if it fires and stays on . it's the pressure.
check to see if all connections a set tight hi-ltd switch wire harness etc.

SOURCE: 1 year old hayward h1001d pool heater clicking

Actually, the clicking is likely causing the shaking. Inside the manifold of a H100 is a stainless steel diverter plate that send some of the passing water into the heat exchanger and lets the rest past and back to the pool. When it breaks, you will hear a 'clicking' noise at it rattles in the water path. When it breaks, the flow to the heat exchanger is intermittent and you will begin to boil the water, causing the shaking. This situation is dangerous, especially without a pressure relief in the heater or pipe. As long as your water chemistry is sound, Hayward will usually cover this under warranty even if the unit is over a year old. SOURCE: my hayward heater gives a LO error when trying to

One of your limits is not working or not wired up. An easy way to check the limits - Water pressure switch, Hi limits, air pressure switch all of which have 2 wires going to them. Unplug one item and connect the 2 wires together ( paper clip works fine ) Then retest, if problem does not go away remove paper clip and reconnect wires and move to the next limit. The limits are located in the black plastic header. Always make sure water is flowing through the heater at all times while checking the limits.

How can I verify that water flow rate to my Hayward H series heater is above minimum required 20 GPM?

Most pool pump/filter systems are designed to achieve the minimum recommended flow rate. A pump system with at least 1HP motor should achieve the minimum flow rate, but a 0.75HP motor would likely also achieve it. The Hayward H series heaters do not include a water flow rate sensor, but rather use a water pressure sensor to verify the pump is operating. If the system has insufficient water flow even when the pressure is within normal operating limits, the heater will likely over heat and open the water pressure relief valve located on the outlet header. This condition could occur if the down-stream line is blocked (by a closed valve or similar condition). It is important to avoid this condition since the heater will release pressure via opening a relief valve, spilling water directly out of the heater manifold.

The only adjustment for hydraulic sensing within the H series heaters is the water pressure sensor. See other articles within fixya for this procedure.

Hayward MILIVOLT H300 BANGING AND POPPING. STILL HEATS BANGING AND POPPING QUITS WHEN HEATING STOPS.

Hi,
There are two things that can cause this...
low water flow
mineral build up in heat exchanger

Check and verify water flow through the heater

if that is ok, then the heat exchanger needs to be cleaned

I have A hayward heater H100IDEVERYTIME the heater kicks on it makes A clunking noise and the inlet hose shakes

Check your water flow and make sure your by-passes are set to send water threw the heater. That is to say shut off. The water in the heater is over heating and the clunking is the water turning to steam.

Hayward Model H250IDL is leaking water from drain valve.

Water leaking from the heater is not a good sign. This is an indication of a leaking heat exhanger. The heat exchanger will have to be replaced and the part is made of copper. It is very expensive, depending on the age, you may just want to replace the entire heater. Exchangers usually leak due to bad water chemistry.

My heater ignites and blows really hot exhaust

The water is mixed on the back side of the heater and will exit the heater at 7-11 degres hotter than it came in. This will keep people from being scalded at pool side. So what you have sounds normal.

Hayward H300 heater runs but will not heat water

Your internal by-pass could be stuck open or the disc could be worn to the point of letting water pass too fast. Or your thermal control valve could be stuck open. These are both found in your water header going into the heater. Hope this helps, good luck.

Check the thermocouple that the pilot light heats up. If it is not working then the gas to the pilot will not stay on.
