Logon screen will only show if you have multiple users or a password setup. Setup in Control Panel > Users. Enable the Guest account.

There are 2 ways that i know.1-Start computer and hold down f8 while it is starting up.There should be an administration log in icon leave the password area blank and then press enter. You will get into your computer and then you can reset the password or disable it.2-You can use the same type of methed as step1 but instead of holding down f8 jus tap ctrl.. alt delete 2 times during welcome window and then admin will come up and do the same as step1

I have packard bell note book and this morning logged on and it logged my off staright away and now i have no icons on my screen just a blue screen with the windows logo!! thanks

Your profile is corrupted . The easiest way to fix that is to reinstall Windows using the recovery cd that came with the notebook. If you have files that you can't lose then, before reinstalling, login as Administrator and copy all your files to an external memory stick.
How to login as Admin:
XP = press CTRL + ALT + DEL twice at the Welcome Screen and input your Administrator password (not your user one) in the classic logon window that appears.

When i open window it says password and then i want to reset it

between the lines from your English ...am I to understand that you have the log on screen where its asking for your password and not logging in with welcome screen at once ...to remove that you have to go to the control panel ...at the user accounts ..open it ...and click on the acount you use..not on the guest one ...after that click remove my pasword..
.and if you do not have a password..but that screen is still appearing even if you can log on after you hit enter ..without the password..just when you open the user account in the control panel ..instead of clicking on the user...click on the line that says change the way user log in .. ..click ..the line that says use the welcome screen ..and thats all..
If the password thing is not a full screen but a rectangular loging that asks for user and password..than you have to go to the local area connection (the 2 monitors in the task bar ) .. double click on it ..after that properties...and in that list with the protocols..you have to remove the NETWARE service ..by clicking on it ..and after that remove ..
this will allow you to change the way users log on from the panel like I explained above...

  • Press F8 before the Windows boot screen appears. Do not press F5 as used on the NT/9x series of Windows. You will be be prompted with a boot options menu.
  • 3Select the Start Windows in Safe Mode option.
  • 4Click through several self-explanatory screens until your reach the familiar 'Welcome' screen.
    • Note that this welcome screen is limited to 256 colors and 640x480 resolution because the primary graphics will have been set to the Windows Safe Mode software VGA adapter. You will not be able to change this mode even in Display options, while Windows is running in Safe Mode.
  • 5Find the icon for the Administrator user. If the default settings of your system haven't been changed, there should be no password for this account.
  • 6The Safe Mode Welcome screen might display some of the other users on your system.
  • 7Login as the admin.
  • 8Press Yes at the prompt asking if you would like to continue using Safe Mode.
  • 9Continue on to the User Settings control panel. Here you can change any of the other passwords for user on the machine. Make any changes you want.
  • 10Reboot your computer. As long as you don't press any keys (i.e. F8) during the boot-up the computer will startup normally.
  • 11Login as the user for which you set the password.
  • 12If it doesn't work above, you can try to use professional support recommendation OPHCrack (freeware) to crack your windows password without erasing anything

If it's on bootup, do this:

You need to temporarily remove the CMOS battery from the motherboard to reset the BIOS password.

If it's logging in, use this:

Got secondhand acer aspire x3200cannot log on ,asking for password from former ownwer, can i bypass this

It is possible to bypass it if its just the User's password but not the Administrator's Password

on the Logon Screen, Press CTRL+ALT+DEL keys and another Logon Dialog Box will appear, type administrator in the Username Field and press enter without entry any password. You will be logged on if there is no Administrator's Password then Go to Control Panel => User Account, Select the User and unset the password.

    Thanks

    Start Menu Picture Disappeared Suddenly

Turn the Welcome screen on or off It sounds as if you accidentally turned off the welcome screen. Here's how to turn that function on and off:

To turn the Welcome screen on or off
You must have a computer administrator account on a computer that is a member of a workgroup or is a stand-alone computer to turn on or turn off the Use the Welcome screen feature. Logging on at the Welcome screen is not available on computers that are members of a network domain.
    1. Open shortcutcold.gifUser Accounts in Control Panel.
    2. Click Change the way users log on or off.
    3. Do one of the following:
      • To specify that users log on to the computer using the Welcome screen, select the Use the Welcome screen check box. A user logs on to the computer by clicking his or her user account name on the Welcome screen. If a password is assigned to the account, the user is prompted to type it.
      • To specify that users log on to the computer without using the Welcome screen, clear the Use the Welcome screen check box. The Welcome screen will no longer appear when you start the computer. To log on to the computer, type your user name (and password, if you have one) in the standard Log On to Windows dialog box.
    note.gif Notes
    • To open User Accounts, click Start, click Control Panel, and then click User Accounts.
    • Fast User Switching is available only when the Welcome screen is turned on. For more information, click Related Topics.
I hope this helps. Please let me know if you require further assistance.

I changed the password on my Dell Inspiron 600m the other night and now I can't remember what I changed it to and now I'm locked out of my computer! Please can someone please . . . . help me?

Do you mean the password to log into Windows XP?

If so, right after you turn on the Laptop, start tapping the F8 key until you get a menu screen on a black background.

With the keyboard arrow keys, select Safe Mode and click Enter.

On the Windows Welcome Screen you should see your Windows account and a new Administrator account. Hopefully, no one set up a password on the built-in Administrator account. Click the Administrator account and click to log in with no (blank) password.

Windows will tell you that you are working in Safe Mode and click yes on that box (The screen will look considerably larger and your background will not show as Windows uses default video drivers in safe mode). Click start and go to Control Panel. On the left hand side click Classic View and then Double Click on the User Accounts Icon.

Click your account from the User Accounts window that opens and choose Change My Password or Remove My Passowd. After you have removed or changed your password, close all the Windows and Restart your computer normally. When you get to the Windows Welcome Screen, the Administrator account should not be listed anymore and you can select your account and log in with the New Password you created, or log in with a blank password if you chose to Remove My Password.
