Connect a LAN cable from your computer's LAN port to your Netgear WiFi extender' LAN port.
Open a browser and enter www.mywifiext.net or www.mywifiext.com
This will get up into the Netgear WiFi extender setup.

How do I set up a new pass ward

You don't give the brand and model of your router so I can't give detailed steps, but it's the same simple process for all of them. You access the router's setup pages using your Web browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, etc.), then enter the new password where it tells you. If you don't know the current password and can't access the setup pages, you can reset the router using the recessed pushbutton found on the rear panel. Then you can log in with the default username and password.

You can find full details for your router at the manufacturer's website, where you can download manuals and find other helpful information. Also, sites like this one can give you the default password information for most routers to get you started.

All of a sudden, I can't connect to the internet. My network connection is asking for a security key. I have never had to do that before & I have no idea what it is. Please help.

Someone nearby may have created a new wifi network, and your computer is trying to gain access to it. The first thing to do is to verify that you are indeed trying to connect to your own wifi network by checking the SSID of the network. Or, you can physically move closer to your wifi router and see if you can then connect as expected.

If you're still having trouble after that - you'll need to access your router's setup pages via a computer that has a network cable connected between it and one of the LAN ports on the router. Login as usual with your username & password credentials and then change the SSID, encryption and the username & password information. If you are unable to login, then it is very possible that the person(s) that took over your wifi have also attempted to lock you out of it. You'll have to consult your router's manual to learn how to perform a hardware based factory reset. Once this has been done, you'll need to set up your variables for your network again. Make sure you secure the wifi to prevent unauthorized access again. This mean using WPA instead of the comparably very weak WEP security AND then locking down access to the setup page with a new username and password.

I hope this helps and good luck. Please rate my reply. Thanks.
