Hi, did you buy your engine used? Sounds like your gonna have to get the carb or carbs cleaned. Its possible you could have a stopped up fuel filter, or not enough spark but i am guessing its gonna be the carbs. They got some gunk in em i bet. Probably old fuel turned to gunk from setting up. I had the same problem on my 40 horse.

Testimonial: "Hi, thank you very much for your help, I will strip the carb down and have a look. Once again, many thanks, I am very greatful"
If the gear lever is loose,it's the gear connection rod that you disconnect to do a g/box drop.If its not loose, drop the g/box off the leg and the first thing you find might be the problem.A loose bolt,a jammed shifter. It will probably be a connection problem than a g/box problemHope this helps

It shouldn't cause any problems , once it dries out, it should fire back up and run, get the water out of the carbs if you can, or make sure there is no water in there, where did the water come from? You might have to prime the pistons with fresh gas to get it to fire, make sure the plugs are dry and clean. We had a honda pump on a barge and it went in the river, we grabbed the hose and pulled it back up, fired right up and ran fine all day. What an engine. Hope this helps.
