Grow a third arm or have someone follow you pumping while you trim :-).

The fuel pump is part of the carburetor body. You could disassemble it and see if something is stuck in one of the flappers that make up the pump or it may be broken and need a replacement. It's just a thin plastic piece in there that makes it pump using engine vacuum pulses to drive it.

I think the model your speaking of is the RBC30. It is a 2 stroke mixture. The 430 models are 4 stroke and do not require mixing oil and fuel. They are made by Ryobi for Makita.
