It can be your ECU the fuel pump section of it has failed . or your noise relay . has failed.or both.a noise relay give power to the injectors.that information to do so .is from your ECU the cars brain.only way to fix is by changing them.

-Use noise light to check each injector wire connector to see
If there is power there or not when you crank.
-If there is not power at all then 90% the cam & crank sensor are effect.
Good luck

When the outside temp is below 30 degrees my 1994 jeep grand cherokee 4.0 will not start

lots of guesses. sure.. common here.
first would be a real tuneup , using the 60,000 mile list. for sure.
filters and spark parts. (my guess is you did)
1994 is a great year, all 93+ jeeps are good from 93 to now.
I presume this is USA car, and you scan it and there are no
DTC errors.????
seems its flooding ,
if 5% throttle makes it start, that is lack of air or flooding
if wont start and the super secret WOT crankings clear flood , then was flooded, Wide open throttle cranking , cuts all fuel (the secret)
so is , IAC/ISC stuck closed, chean it yet.
or injector leaks (pass the injector leak down test ,does it?0

got 500k miles o jeeps from 88 to 99+
and the ISC stick on them all.

the ISC is the electric, ldle speed control valve.
if it sticks closed, you cant get full air supply to start.
had to clean mine every 10 to 20k, miles.
until i found the magic, spray that cured that.
"klondike gun lube spray": looks like teflon after it dries.

that run rough started is called misfire.
and is flooding, (if injector are not leaking) its air supply wrong.
one more thing,
the ECT must read 30F when parked overnight, and was 30f.
see? a cold engine will be near ambient air, first thing, in the morning.

running old fueL:?
running summer fuel from last August?
the ECT sensor causes injections to match true temps.
make sure it reads right for all bets off.

clean ISC first. not shot gun parts
for that cash you could have got a nice scan tool.
like this.

the prefect tool for 93-95 jeeps. does OBD1 on JEEPS !!!!

1990 Chevy Cavalier Z24 Starting Problem

I'd use a gage and check proper fuel pressure, 3.1L vinT, 40.5--47 psi.
Also, engine cranking the vehicle systems get battery voltage. engine running, the systems get alternator voltage, that can be several volt difference.
Maybe a voltage drop on the fuel system?

Turns over but won't fire

If a starter is able to crank the engine but it won't start you usually have either an electrical or fuel problem. It's also remotely possibly that it's compression. If an engine has proper fuel, spark and compression, it will start when you crank it. So your challange is to find out which part isn't working right. Start with fuel. Spray a little starting fluid into the air intake while someone tries to start the engine. If it starts briefly when you're spraying starting fluid, you probably have a fuel delivery problem. That could be injectors, fuel pump, fuel filter, relay, fuse... who knows what until you check into it.If it doesn't start with starting fluid, check the spark. Pull a plug wire and attach it to a spare sparkplug and set the plug on a solid metal part of the engine. Have a helper crank the engine while you watch the plug. If you have a good spark, it might just be out of timing. In any case, you'll need to start isolating the problem. Find out which part isn't working then you'll know what to replace/repair.

Stalled & won't start

Hi there:
You will have to pinpoint what the engine is missing... Spark / Fuel / Compression

All three of these are tested when the engine is being cranked over. There are two way of checking for fuel. Fuel pressure and fuel trigger. Both are very important and must be present for the engine to start. Fuel pressure is self explanatory. You just hook up the gage and see what the reading is. Fuel trigger is check with a noid light. The injector gets unplugged and the noid light gets plugged in to the injector clip. With the engine cranking over, this light must blink. This is the signal to the injectors from the computer. You can have all the fuel pressure in the world, but it wont matter if the injector is not pulsing gas into the cylinder like it should.

Compression tester, spark tester, fuel pressure gage and noid light are all accessible at your local auto store. All three tests play a very important part in diagnosing a no start condition. Be extremely careful when doing these tests.

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Thank you for using FixYa, have a nice day.

89 B2600I: engine starts and runs if you spray starting fluid in air intake- you quit then it quits. Injectors have 12 volts. computer has constant & ignition 12 volts plus several good ground...

So we would have to assume from what you're saying that the injectors are not being pulled to ground by the computer. Have you tried listening to them with a mechanics stethoscope? The computers are a common problem but if another one gives the same result then I'd have to say that the wiring harness between the computer and the injector is suspect. You will have to check the continuity between the injector plug and the connector that goes into the computer. You will need a wiring diagram but I think the wire colors at the injector should be the same as they enter the computer. I would strongly suggest that you confirm fuel pressure though. I know what you mean by fuel at the injectors, but pressure is important.

Glow plugs might be on when starter is not engaged. wont cold start. have new g plugs no fuel leaks

That is a self priming system on the 6.0 diesel. It has an electric fuel pump check to see if you have fuel getting to the filter up on top of the engine. If you crank the engine and immediately loosen the upper filter housing or crank the engine over with the cap loose it should spray fuel. If you have fuel spray up on top than you most likely have a computer or injector problem. I did have a 6.0 once that would not start because of a shorted out fuel injector. Also check your engine oil level the injectors in that engine are operated by oil pressure. No oil no start.

DO NOT USE STARTING FLUID of any kind on that engine or any engine with glow plugs. Severe engine damage can and will result from use of starting fluids in diesels with glow plugs or heating grids.

The only exception is if you disable the glow plugs or heating grid before using a starting fluid and even then you need to be certain that you know what you are doing
