SOURCE: Acer Aspire 5100 will not log on

If you have a Finger Print scanner (on select models), it may have failed, if you do not have this device , you may have installed malware - try rebooting and after you see the Acer screen start tapping F8 to get to speacial boot menu - choose Safe Mode and see if you can log in. If still unable, you will have to perform a system recovery - Acer provides an alternate way to recover - when you start the computer you see the Acer logo screen - after this displays hold down the Alt Key by the spacebar and tap the F10 key at the top of the keyboard once or twice - this will start the Acer E-Recovery program - follow the on screen instructions.

SOURCE: Bootup problem

Your CPU is overheating.

Try and get into the BIOS and increase the fan speed & any aother fan on the system. Don't increase the temperature range, as this will damage the system.

You won't be able to sort out the software problem until the system is running within the hardware limits.

You can also run a office fan to help get the system to cool while making the changes in the BIOS.

SOURCE: Windows XP SP2 Repair

Solution: Rename the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CATROOT2 folder to something such as catold to prevent WinXP's Setup program from locating the folder and halting the installation. If you are still in Setup, press SHIFT-F10 to launch a command prompt from within Setup. At the command prompt, type cd\win dows\System32 to open the System32 folder and then type rename CATROOT2 catold, press ENTER, restart the computer, and attempt the upgrade again.

If you cannot reach a command prompt from Setup, reboot the computer from a Win95, Win98, or WinMe startup disk and rename the folder from the command prompt. You can also launch a command prompt by booting from the WinXP installation CD and running the Recovery Console.

SOURCE: HDD not recognized whe installing fresh Windows XP!

Go to the BIOS setup, & change the disk controller setting from AHCI to IDE. might worth the try. Some Laptops don't have option of SCSI or IDE. But there are SATA Enable/Disable option. Try disabling SATA.
You will be able to load XP but I suggest you to install Dell Vostro and SATA drivers. That you'll probably find it here:

Interactive logon process failed

I would attempt either trying to login as administrator, and if not then a Windows OS repair with the operating system disk. This should repair any of the OS files allowing you to login again.

Have you tried to boot in safe-mode?
try f8 on boot up and when it ask what to do. load "last good profile that worked.
Open up a command prompt from your recovery options and copy C:\Windows\System32\winevt\Logs\Application.evtx to an external disk. Get on another computer with Vista and open up Application.evtx with the Event Viewer. Find the error where SideBySide is the source in the event log and it should say something about an error in some manifest file. Now go back to your computer and replace that file on your C drive with a copy of that file from your recovery partition or recovery disk. Restart your computer and it should work.

When i switch it on it boot alright the after booting it tels me that logon process initilla

You may need to roll back system with System Restore. Under Safe Mode (press F8 during boot and choose safe mode). Start > Search type System Restore. Now choose a date prior to problem. You may have to try a few dates.

Try disabling startup programs. Go to Start > Run (search in Win 7) and type MSConfig. Startup tab and uncheck anything that you don't want Windows to load automatically. It will make Windows boot faster and use less resources while running. This just disables them in startup. Programs will still load, but when only you initiate.

When i startd my laptop(dell Inspiron) i got error msg as "interactive logon initialization failed ". I tried to login in safe mode still i got same msg. when i run diagnostics utility, 0F00 131B...

You have to make a new account on the computer to resolve this issue (Or a fresh format/factory reset). If you are able to log in at all, make a new account and move your data. Otherwise, factory reset might be the easiest solution. You can recover your data by removing the hard drive and using an external hard drive to usb cable if you are not able to log in at all.

Start up is very slow and its hanging all the process is stopping with hang what can i do will u pls help me to come out of this problem

this problem may be attributed to many programs loading during start up

Startup tasks can be easily disabled with the help of a utility by Microsoft called Autoruns. You can download Autoruns from this link. After download, unzip and run Autoruns.exe . It will load like snapshot below. Click on Logon tab as shown in red circle in picture below.

Logon tab shows all the tasks which are automatically start every time windows starts. Have a close look and disable some of the tasks which you don't need at startup. For example, in some computers, at logon, web cam software, acrobat reader, real player up-dater, yahoo messenger , etc. applications start running while you may not be needing the all the time.

To disable un-necessary items to load at logon, simply un-check those items in the log-on tab as above. These applications can be started later when needed from start menu. After un-checking, just restart your computer and see the difference.

Hi everyone, I'm having the same problem too.. Everytime I start my laptop, It show these two option: Startup repair or Start Windows normally. I "Start Windows normally" and then it comes...

It looks like your going to have to perform a full system recovery as you are not getting anywhere with start-up repair or safe mode.

For a full system restoration, press the F11 key during bootup and then select "Recover PC" from the menu.

Interactive logon process initialization has failed

Can you start on safe mode? If you can do that and go to C:\ and type dir/p and look for any file regardless of its extensions that created at the time you lost control, and keep note of it then logout and start again in safe mode by pushing F8 at the startup few times tell you bypass the window startup and click on safe mode…login as admin and uninstall the software then search for any file that was created on the same day that you had the issues with and delete them including the one in the recycle bin. Logout and restart again as admin from safe mode and try to login to the net and go to free scan website and scan your system. If that did not work you can try to restore to the last day that you can and that will not effect your folder that you need unless it is new and after the restore dat..let me know how that work for you and please do not forget to rate my service so we can improve on it with your help. God bless

Acer Aspire SA85 stays on Acer logo

Hi bob,

Usually system stops at the startup screen or the startup logo, when it finds some fault in detecting the IDE drives(ie,your harddisk or cd drive), if you dint get any get stuck in the logo, you have to see what happens at the background by clicking on f1 key or f12 or TAB or some key to show the activity rather than logo.....

After seeing the error we can conclude or decide about the problem, but when you were not able to see the screen after pressing any key as specified in your manual, Or it hangs after the LOGO screen, this must be problem with your harddrive, try changing the harddish or try connecting once again by removing it...
