Lightening strick appearently hit (Bypassing my power strip ground) my internal HD Receiver, Directv tech person confirmed.
TV work fine; except it won't and receive and process the signal from the Directv dish. (Tv screen displays only searching for Sat signal and date/time is not correct)
Is their a solution, before I have a repair person come to my house and look at the TV.
You can try eliminating whethor or not the receiver is actually the problem by moving it to another TV and seeing if it works on one that isn't having any problems. Or moving a working receiver onto the TV to see if it will pick up signal with a working receiver. If you don't have any receivers in your house working, then odds are something needs to be serviced outside your home, like the Dish and/or LNB.
Did DirecTV actually come out to the home and troubleshoot at the site? If not, they would have no way of knowing if it's the TV or Satellite that's causing the issue.

I had the same problem with HDMI input to the RX-V373 from a DirecTV receiver. The RX-V373 volume display and menus on the screen are HD only, which forces the monitor to switch modes when viewing SD.
My solution was to turn off 480i and 480p signals from the DirecTV receiver, and also turn off its native output. The DirecTV receiver then upconverts SD signals to HD. Changing RX-V373 volume then doesn't affect monitor video mode.
If your DirecTV remote is in SAT mode and the power button isn't turning the receiver on and off, you will likely need a new remote. There isn't suppose to be any trick to getting the power button on a remote to work. However, only DirecTV tech support can confirm this. I would give them a call right away.
Your right connect the HDMI output from the directv receiver to an HDMI input on your tv. Change the tv input to the HDMI input and it should work. If your tv does not have HDMI input then it should have component input indentified as red blue green connectors on the back of tv. This is for video only. Connect the red and white for audio using the yellow/red/white cable that was included with receiver. The red blue green cable is also included with receiver as well as the HDMI cable. Did this installer educate you on how to use your directv equipment. If you are paying for HD access but your receiver is not connected the an HD input on your tv then you are not getting what you are paying for. This should of been resolved during the installation. The installer either is incompentant or just did not care. Call directv and demand them to make their receiver work with your tv if this means a field supervisor tech being sent out to correct this.
If you swapped directv receivers and the problem followed to a different tv then there is something wrong with the directv receiver. Need to run satellite setup again on this receiver to fix. repeat satellite setup is accessible through the setup submenu by pressing menu from the directv remote. look under satellite submenu once in setup
Check the manual to see if there is an automatic code search feature for your Toshiba. It may be easier to program your directv remote to operate your toshiba. You may not get the full use from either remote, but its worth a shot
The Scientific Atlanta box was a cable box and recieved CATV signals. The Direct TV box is satellite only. You might check if it has a built in ATSC tuner for off air digital signals. Direct TV in most locations offers the major networks in HD format.
