Tv will not turn on

So my tv will not turn on from the buttons on the front of the tv set. You stated that would indicate a problen from the inside of the tv. So that would mean to call a repair man? Even though the tv makes noises like it wants to turn on?

my system 3 zenith won't power up...it makes a clicking sound like it wants to ...as if a relay is kicking on , but then it clicks of again. the green stereo light comes on then goes off the same time the clicks happen. The tv is about 17 yrs old it is a system 3 model SF2713H

I have the same problem with a system 3 set that was built in 1990. I have discovered that it will eventually turn on if you have the patience to sit and keep pushing the power switch. I have also found that by applying some heat from a hand held hair dryer through the vents on the back of the set, it seems to improve the chances of it coming on sooner. If I could find a schematic for this set, I may attempt a repair. Any ideas on where I can find a schematic.

    Sam the man...

Hi Kate01, If it won't turn on, it'll either be a problem with the central circuit board, the connections between the button row and the circuit board, or something more fundamental to do with the display system. My money would be on the central circuitry, but any of these could easily be responsible. Whatever it is exactly though (difficult to be certain without running 'hard' tests onsite), you're going to need a repair man - you should never open up your TV set. The capacitors they contain hold charge for a long time after you've turned them off, and that can be lethal of you prod the wrong area. Even that may be too expensive if it's a central board problem though, so you may just have to get a new set. Your best bet would be to take it into a small repair store and get their onsite advice after they've run some checks on it - they may be able to have it returned to you by the end of the day, but, as I say, your TV may have seen better days altogether. If this helps, I'd appreciate you giving me an appropriate rating. Regards, badegine

Tv will not power up

Press the TV button or ON/OFF button while remote is in TV mode and there's a source of power to the outlet or outlet strip.

Make sure the TV is plugged in.

You might have tried to turn on the TV during the lamp cool-down. Wait a few moments and the picture will appear.

Has the power light on the front of the TV been blinking for one minute? If so, the lamp may be dead. Refer to the Power indicator
is blinking or flashing section below for more information.

When you first plug your TV into an outlet, the Power indicator on the front panel will light and blink for approximately 30 seconds
and then go off during the initialization of the TV. This happens only when the TV is unplugged and plugged back in. The TV can
only be turned on after the Power indicator goes off.

Check the wall receptacle (or extension cord) to make sure it is "live" by plugging in something else, such as a lamp.

Something might be wrong with your remote control. Press the POWER button on the front of the TV. If the TV turns on, check the
remote control solutions on page 53.

Multiple TV Setup might be set to the wrong option. Press MENU/OK on the front panel. Select Setup Options, then Advanced
Options, then Multiple TV Setup. Choose TV (default).

Tv wont turn on, the power indicator nor the remote receiver light does not light up, the 3rd circle on the front of the tv blinks red!! But it wont come on regardless, tv is only 2 years old, what to...

The blinking red light means set is in shutdown because of a short inside the tv.

Someone to begin would have to open it and check power supply voltages inside the set....that is the first step.

Try selecting a different input, or checking the device which you are receiving the signal from. A blue screen typically indicates that there is no signal.

Tv wonn't shut off

Have you tried unplugging the set for several minutes and then plugging it back in?

There is a separate circuit in the TV that turns the set on & off with either the front panel button or remote. The front power button does not switch the 110V directly.

The circuit could be either be a relay or solid state switch that turns on the main power supply.

It sounds like you have a problem with that circuit and you'll need to take the set in to be serviced.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance to you.

Good luck!

Power light blinking

The TV is on protect mode.

Try first leaving the TV power cord unplugged for some times, let say one hour or so.

Also ensure that the fault is not coming from a faulty receiver box sending bad signal, check if you get same problem with no receiver box or dvd connected.

If that does not work, and you keep having a flashing led on front of the TV, and tv turning off by itself after a while, that indicates a fault condition.

The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.
When the TV goes on protection there are only two possible reasons.

1The internal circuits are jammed because of electrostatic charges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage read by the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started the protection circuit.

2 The protection circuit detected a wrong voltage or abroken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in , startingthe flashing light.

If you are in situation one, then theTV will reset just unplugging power cord for one or two hours, sometimes even minutes.

If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.

Common faults that can occur are a blown capacitor on power board, a convergence IC has blown, or a fault on Digital board.

Check also the video cable or any external connection cable, if the cable is shorting, or the connector is bad, you can get same flashing state because of the video cable.

If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual

If you want to repair at your own expenses, just locate any good qualified repairer.

My tv will not turn on.

First of all, forget about the remote and see if the TV functions normally using the buttons on the front of the set itself. If the TV will not power on with the power button on the set itself, then something is wrong inside the TV. If the set works fine from the front buttons but no longer responds to that remote, then the remote has either gone bad or was accidently set to a different brand. In this case, look for the original book that came with the remote (or TV if it is the original remote) and follow the instructions for setting the remote back to Zenith. Try that and post your results here.
