If the display is not working it ispossible that the LCD is faulty , so make a confirmation if the contacts are good or the connection is Ok.
If so remove battery and clean the padds and board, then reset the phone. If the display has no life then it is possible that the display needs a replacement .get estimate and consensus from a Smasung service to decide.
If this is the touch phone then you might ahve a faulty touch pad of the phone. remove the battery and keep aside, use a dryer to heat softly so that if there is any signs of moisture on the padd it will be taken off.
Repeat after some time but do not overheat. Now replace battery and check . If the pad responds then repeat, if not remove the phone and the pad and reset as a last try.
Possible that the touch padd is faulty. This can be expensive unless it is checked out seriously.
You can check for moisture buildup , keep in warm place and try , maybe if you can open check for connections., tighten.
The software might be faulty or there is a reason for hardware failure. But take opinion before any decision can be made, Please do not test and tamper.
Carefully open the remote controller unit and look inside for possible failure of the carbon pads or the remote control PCB tracks. So first of all open to clean the padds and the pcb then check specially on the volume controller pads, use old pads to be stuck on or carbon dots that are available for repairing remote controllers.Repeat this for the program pads. If the fault does not clear then look into the PCB section of the volume tracks and program tracks and use a carbon pen to make the tracks prominent. Hope this works. Good day
