Question about Aqua Flo Aquaflo Flo Master Xp2 Spa Pump 1.5 Hp Two Speed
Recently my hot tub tripped out when I switched the jets on . Resetting the RCD only brings on the LCD and allows motor to work on low speed -as as the jets are switched on the power trips out - any suggestions greatly received Doug
I'm going on somewhat limited information here not knowing if the tub is newly installed or if this is a spa that has been working in the past and just started doing this. It would be helpful to know if this is a recently installed pump as well. That said here are a few things to check.
If it's a new install: Your electrician has more than likely wired the spa incorrectly. Be sure that the spa pack has 220V going into the pack and that the GFCI is wired correctly.
If it's an old spa with a new problem: A lot of times a bad heater element can cause a spa to trip the breaker. If you have a bad element the spa will operate normally for about a minute when you turn the power on, then trip the breaker as soon as the heater kicks in.
If it only trips the breaker when the pump is turned on to high speed, more than likely there is a problem with the wiring of the pump or the relay on the pump itself.

I I am presuming that low-speed is already on, and then when you push the button for high-speed Jets, as you call them, then the breaker trips?
Some control systems, utilize turning on The air blower at the same time as Jets high-speed come on. If this is the case, you could have a bad or shorted out air blower? Unplug the air blower and, see if that stops the breaker from tripping.
if breaker still trips, then the problem lies with that two speed pump motor.
you can also unplug from the power source, any ozone unit installed.

SOURCE: i have an aqua flow
Many of these pump motors have a capacitor and start & run windings. I had a pump motor a week ago that was free to rotate, but only hummed. I looked inside the back end, everything looked good, I bought a capacitor online for $7 + $15 shipping, installed it and it worked. The capacitor will have voltage & rating on the side.
BE CAREFUL, CAPACITORS KEEP VOLTAGE EVEN WHEN NOT PLUGGED IN. If you don't know how to handle them, take the motor to a local motor repair shop.
