Clean the Fan, vents, heatsink. Use a Laptop cooler if necessary. It would be helpful if you posted the Make, Model of Laptop.

Engineoverheats but still blows cold air

Your statement in it-selves solve the problem.
Your vehicle cooling system and air-conditioner system work independently.
Your vehicle cooling system is driven by the v-belt that turns the water-pump and circulates the coolant within the engine through the radiator and back into the engine and flow is controlled by a thermostat.

Your vehicle air-conditioning system operates from a v-belt that drives an air-conditioning pump which circulates coolant through a sealed system and generates cold air completely independently from the engine cooling system.

It seems that you need to repair the engine cooling system which has a fault and this fault could be
a) combustion seeping into cooling system (blown gasket),
b) cooling fan not operating (this fan engages at specific engine temperatures and suck cold air through the radiator in order to cool the engine coolant as it passes through radiator veins),
c) faulty cooling thermostat (thermostats work mechanically and through temperature expands and opens the water circulatory channel / opening, and in cold weather restricts this opening in order for coolant to allow engine to reach operating temperature and then allows the coolant to circulate freely),
d) engine combustion could be too hot due to fuel mixture discrepancies (too lean) thus overheating the internal combustion process which will overheat coolant,
e) engine cooling system leak causing the system not to seal thus restricting the pressurised coolant circulatory system (the system needs to be pressurised for effective circulation as well as raising the boiling point of coolant (under pressure water would boil at 110 degrees Celcius instead of 90 degrees Celcius).

Hope you find the problem soon as overheating is detremental to the engine and all integrate parts associated therewith.

1997 ford expedition overheating problem truck warms up fine heat works good then heat goes cold and temp gauge jumps from normal to overheating i have changed the thermostat twice water pump fan clutch...

This might sound like too simple a solution, but after owning 5 expeditions, I think I may have an idea.

It is possible that the cooling system is simply not full of fluid. If, when changing the thermostat twice and other service, the system was not sufficiently bled or burped, this can happen. What happens is that people do these repairs, and then fill the radiator, but fail to completely flush the cooling system. My son had the exact same problem on his Mazda 3 (Mazda was owned by Ford then), and flushing his cooling system solved his problem.

Think of it this way: If your heater works fine, then goes cold, that usually means the heater coils which the air blows over have no hot fluid in them. As for overheating, your thermostat opens when your engine reaches a certain temperature with the intent to exchange the too-hot fluid with water cooled by the radiator, but if there is only air, or insufficient fluid in the engine after the exchange, you will overheat.

Ask your mechanic to flush/burp the cooling system completely. I hope this works.

My fans radiator fans are not coming in my 1996 Jetta 2.0L, on what do i check first

It's possible that the pressure relief has failed & is venting (hissing) below the rated pressure for the cooling system; replacing the radiator cap & properly filling the system will probably solve the problem. Let it cool first to avoid injury.

Ford Focus 2001 heater blows cool air

it sounds like an airlock in the system, try draining the cooling system , refill and when you start the car make sure that the heater is on full then on the hot setting , this should solve it.

Will not stay on

Hello,
The first culprit on your system is overheating. If the processor overheats for any reason, especially: (a). A blocked/clogged cooling system, open the notebook and use a blower to blow out the dust from it's cooling vents. (b).A failing CPU cooling fan: Have the CPU fan and heat-sink assembly replaced. (c).Worn-out thermal paste: Reapply the thermal paste on the CPU and the heat-sink to enhance cooling.
If the above does not solve the problem, or are not cause of the problem that you are experiencing, the problem may be your CMOS or the SMC(System management controller) chipset. Resetting the CMOS manually via the CMOS reset switch on motherboard should solve the problem.
Have a great time ahead.

Hi My HP proliant dl360 G3 server reports an ok stauts on the cooling section of the system manager but for some reason the next day it reports an insuficient cooling problem and fan failure and reboots...

Hello,

From my experience, this is an indication that your fans need replacing. If your system manager is working properly, at night if your system is not use much, the manager will put the system in a low state of operation, almost like hybernation. When a request come in to 'wake-up' the system, the fans do not spin fast enough to cool your system properly thus the errors.

Replace the fans, recheck your settings in system manager making sure the manager software is monitoring the cooling and not the os. This should solve your issue.

Good Luck

My 1996 Sedan DeVille works on econ only with no heat or air. Will charging the a/c correct? Has never been charged. Only 36K on car

Alot of the time the cooling system will only work in Economy when your cooling system needs to be recharge. It does this to protect AC pump. Recharge and check for leaks. Should solve your problem.

Fan error

fan error means that one of the fans inside the computer has failed and is no longer working causing the system to overheat. to solve this you must replace the fan that isn't working. you should try going to your local computer hardware store and ask them to fix the problem.
