Hoover U5468-900 WindTunnel Supreme suction is suddenly poor

Noticed that the bag was full during vaccuuming, which I thought was the problem, but have emptied and cleaned the bag and heppa filters, the brushes turn fine and have also been cleaned, the hose is free of obstructions, but the suction is still poor. I did notice, prior to emptying the bag, that the motor smelled hot, but it seems to run fine and sounds okay now. What else can it be? The vaccuum is only about a year old.

Hoover U5468-900 WindTunnel Supreme is approx 3 years old but hardly used. It is a spare one.It won't ****. I put in a new belt, bag and filter and checked that nothing is blocking it. Does anyone know what else I should check? The greenlight is always on. I can't find a parts or atrouble shooting manual for this machine. Any suggestitons. The other possibility is there is a blockage in the foot. these models have dual channel air flow (windtunnel) and become blocked when not cleaned depending on use. under the roller there is a cavity that can be removed for cleaning. a hot motor can be caused by poor air flow.

All fo a sudden, no suction, motor runs fine, no clogged tubing.

Be sure the upper attachment hose is inserted firmly into the lower hose into the nozzle. Check for suction at the end of the hose, and if there is no suction there must be an obstruction in the hose, or the filter inside the bag compartment is plugged. Be sure the brush is turning when the handle is released.

Suction not working on vaccuum.

Check for a blockage in the hose, or a tear / hole in the hose between the "pleats"

Hoover Wind tunnel supreme, loss of suction
posted by bazballfan on May 01, 2008
Hello, I purchased two of these models in late 2007 and after changing the bags on each of them I have little to no suction with the vacuum. The hose is fine and I have taken them apart and there is no obstruction in the hose or in the base.
These worked so well and now they don't do anything. The bag isn't filling much and the simplest things can’t be vacuumed up
Please help me to fix this

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
Hoover U5450-900 Windtunnel Supreme Vacuum
Sorry you are having a problem, it sounds lie you have done almost everything, but just in review it could be some of these problems:
Belt change – every 4 to 6 months
Are the brushes in good shape
Where does your suction drop off
Is the bottom plate securely on the bottom
Are there any gaskets that are broken or leaking
Is the bag installed securely
Did you check for any clogs or obstructions
Is the filter clean
Feel free to contact your local vac dealer in your area.
So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

Hoover Windtunnel

Either the hose has a clog, or the inlet down by the belt is clogged. Is there suction at the end of the hose, if not then it is clogged. If there is suction, then it has to be clogged down below by the brush roll, check that inlet. There also is a filter at the bottom where the dirt cup (and bag) is, check it also.

Mine does the same thing. There is no suction. I found that there is a door that opens when you tilt the handle in the down possition. I think there should be a spring in place so it can open. Until I find a replacement spring I have to open the door manually throught the opening under the light.
