SOURCE: Door won't fully latch, light stays on, dryer won't function

There is typically a small plastic piece that catches the door and keeps it latched. The door has the male side and the frame of the dryer has the female side.

Either the male part on the door has broken off (or bent) or the the female part on the frame has broken. Replace this part and you'll be back in business. It is typically called a door latch and it comes with both the male and female parts.

Inspect the latch very carefully. It may be bent (door side) and wont insert properly (dryer side). You can replace it if need.. Search on YouTube for some videos on removal.

Door wont latch on a miele t9802 dryer

If you get online and type in the model number it should direct you to a site with a downloadable manual where you might be able to buy a new part for your machine, or go to a local appliance store with the model and serial number and they may have a part for it.

Ge front loading washer door won't unlock

Some machines do this when the power is cut, there should be what looks like a screw heat on the front of the handle which will allow you to unlock the door and open it. If there is still water inside you will need to empty the machine first. There is usually a hatch at the bottom of the unit, open this hatch and you will find a cap to unscrew, unscrewing this cap will empty the contents of the machine onto your floor so be prepared!!!!!

Buy a new door latch kit aprox $5.00. When you install these parts make sure the latch and the peg are lined up in the same direction
