Its not a major problem... It could be any of the following. The evaperator fan is not working in witch case the temps will rise soon and quickly you can check this by opening the freezer door and push the light switch if there is one and listen for the fan.

Next look at the back wall of the freezer and look fof FROST if you have frost then you have a defrost problem in withch case it could be a heater, limiter, timer, or control board.

or your thermostat is bad and is letting the compressor run longer than normal.

This should cover the most common problems.

SOURCE: Refrigerator side temp. started blinking (set @

Hi.

Most common cause for insufficient cooling is either defrost system or frozen damper fan. Both get tested performing a complete defrost.

To test if fan has iced up you simply perform a complete defrost. If the fan restarts working, then it was blocked by ice. The damper fan motor rarely fails. For this reason you usually test other parts before going for the fan. The fan motor can be tested by energizing it directly (jumping its contacts), or by reading Ohms. A faulty temperature control can cause the fan not starting.

The problem is more commonly the defrost system. This part comprises the evaporator and it is located behing the freezer firewall. The function of the defrost system is preventing coils from freezing. When defrost system is defective you get no cooling and the compressor is usually quite busy most of the time.
In defrost system locate and replace the defrost thermostat. This is the part that most commonly fails. The thermostat can be tested reading Ohms at its terminals.
The evap system in this fridge may be quite complex, as most new side-by-side use dual evaporator.

Here an example of the repair done on a different fridge: When the fridge is not cooling...

Regards.

Ginko.

SOURCE: my refrigerator has temperature a problem. The

open the door, push in the two switches on the top,the lights should go out and the fan on top should be blowing, you can remove the light cover to see the fan,if the fan isn't working cold air will stay at the bottom and the top will be warm.if there's an ice block just on the left side back wall around 2 feet up from the crisper draws then you have a freeon leak in the coil and it has to be changed but it sounds like theair isn't ciculating, bad fan motor.

The cold control needs replacing. Thats the knob with the numbers that turn the Ref OFF and ON.
What I do is call my local Appliance Parts Store with my model no. They are extremely helpful .
Get freezer and ref thermometer. Ref is probably too cold.
Freezer should be 0 to 10 degrees. Ref 33 to 35

The unit will not turn off on its own.

With all the extra running---are you getting frozen items in the fresh food section?? You have to understand that if the refrigerator was running all the time and for instance had a stuck on temperature control, you would be getting frozen items like lettuce, eggs, etc in the fresh food section. If that is not happening then the refrigerator needs to run until the cold control turns it off. Set both controls to the middle setting and let it run without playing with it for 24 hours and see if it turns off on its own. Frost free refrigerators average run times of 50% to 75% on time depending on how warm the room temperature actually is. If after 24 hours it is still running and some of your Fresh food is freezing then you do have a bad temp control.

Water dripping inside KTLA22EMSS01

Your freezer actually cools your fridge. It sounds like you have ice build up in your freezer behind the back panel. You should be able to unscrew the back wall inside your freezer. A hair dryer should help defrost or keep it open for a few and use a screwdriver to remove the build up of ice. The ice has made its way down the vent and when it hits the fridge it is above 32 degrees so it is melting. Hope this helps. I manage rental properties and have had it happen on a few occasions.

Why are only drawers in fridge cold & not making ice?

Contact a professional. Sounds like either your damper door is not operating correctly and not letting enough cool air from the freezer enter, or there is an air leak that is making ice form .

Water is leaking onto top shelves of unit

Hello, Thank You for using FixYa. I will be helping you today. Your drain line is most likley frozen. You need to remove the shelfs from the freezer and the bottom slide out panel. Remove the screws holding down the plastic bottom piece in the freezer then remove the back panel in the freezer. Remove any ice buildup you can. The drain is in the middle under the evaporator. DONT TOUCH the evaporator. Use boiling water and pour it in the back untill the drain runs free.
Thank You and please rate my answer if it was helpful..

At work one of our units gets too cold in the fridge and the tenant says it freezes her eggs.Do I need a new t stat?

if the eggs are placed directly where the cold air from the freezer enters the refirigerator section, they would freeze. The temp of air coming into the ref. sect. is about 12 degrees, by the time it fills the ref. section it is around 38 degrees. try moving the eggs to a middle shelf (just not on the top shelf), If that doesn't work then I would replace the thermostat.

Not cooling properly

Hello,

First thing- set the controls at the mid range of their settings. Next, check the coils under the fridge to see if they are clogged with dust, etc. Next, using a couple stem thermometers, determine the temps in the freezer and fresh food sections. In the fresh food section, place a tall glass of water on a shelf in the middle, put the thermometer in and let it set for awhile in the fridge. Inside the fresh food section, look for the damper opening at the top of the wall in between the two sections. Wet the back of your fingers- can you feel air blowing through the damper opening? Inside the freezer section, look at the back wall- any frost buildup there.

Hope this help.....

Fridge not cold and freezer not freezing

Cleaning the dust from the condensor is what I would have done first. the second suspect is the thermostat. When they go out, they either make the refrig freeze up or just go out. the last thing would be the compressor to go out. Cleaning the condensor coil is recomended at least once a year. A good toilet brusk and "Dawn" dish soap works great! The last thing is of corse, a service call. good luck,Lloyd

There seems to be water accumulating on the top shelf of our fridge. items on the top shelf get wet and the water also ends up dripping on the floor after awhile. we have not got the ice maker hooked up

YOUR DEFROST DRAIN IS EITHER CLOGGED WITH ICE OR GUNK, YOU CAN UNPLUG AND DEFROST, THE ICE THIS TAKES SOME TIME. AS THE OPENING FOR THE DRAIN IS IN THE CENTER BACK BELOW THE EVAPORATOR. AND THE ICE MAY BE FROZEN FOR 5-6 INCHES INSIDE DRAIN. YOU WILL SEE WATER DRAINING INTO THE PAN ON TOP OF COMPRESSOR WHEN AND IF DRAIN IS CLEAR. IF NOT ICE THEN TRACE DRAIN FOR BLOCKAGE. SOME FRIGS HAVE A SMALL PIECE OF PLASTIC AT BACK OF FRIG THAT PULLS OUT AND HAS VERTICAL SLOTS TO KEEP OUT DEBRIS, THAT WOULD BE WHERE GUNK WOULD BE.

  1. check gasket
  2. check the light switch on top of the refrig. section. If then pushed the switch turns the light off, but the light is still on with the fridge door closed - door needs adjustment.
