To change from Fraction display to Decimal display on the Casio fx-300ES (and probably other calculators)
1) Press the "SHIFT" button
2) Press the "MODE/SETUP" button
3) Press the "2" button
This Changes it to LINEIO (Decimal)
Doing all of the above but pressing the "1" button instead of the "2" puts it back into MATHIO mode (Fraction)
Hope this Helps
(SHIFT)(MODE/SETUP)(2) to change to decimal

Your BA II PLUS stores numeric values internally to an accuracy of 13 digits. However, the numbers it displays depends on the number of decimal places to which you have it set (choice of 0–9 or floating decimal). To set the number of decimal places displayed to three: hit [2ND][FORMAT][ENTER]This setting also continues indefinitely (even though the calculator is turned off and on) until it is changed.

Since you bent on deactivating the very features that make your calculator so versatile and so powerful, here it is.
Press [SHIFT][MODE][2:LineIO] and you will see no more fractions, nor radicals etc. You asked for it.
Hope it helps.

Testimonial: "I bought the calculator because it was on sale and I like Casio calculators; not for its fractional abilities. I can easily switch it back now. Thanks"
SOURCE: answers in decimals
The calculator has two Input/Output modes, MthIO and LineIO. In MthIO the results are displayed as fractions or as radicals or a mixture of fractions and radicals. What it means, is that in MthIO the calculator does exact calculations. Radicals in denominators are gotten rid of by rationalization, fractions are reduced to the same denominators before addition or subtraction. Fractions are reduced to simplest form.
In LineIO all results are displayed as decimal numbers.
If a result is exact (fractions and radicals) it can be changed to decimal form by pressing the S To D key, the one above the DEL key.
MthIO is the default IO mode. To set it, press SHIFT MODE and select 1:MthIO. To set LineIO as the IO mode, press SHIFT MODE and select 2:LineIO
