SOURCE: freezer not working ice not forming

Possible it's not getting cold enough. Try adjusting to coldest setting to see if that works.
If mechanically inclined suggest replacing compressor or see if possible to refill freon.

Can check local repair shops for parts

SOURCE: the refrigerator has frozen on the back side of freezer and has stopped freezing. The other side is not cooling. Ice maker stopped. What is going on?

The frozen on the back side of the freezer is due to your unit haveing a defrost issue where either the defrost thermostat which is the most popular to show a fault in this type of situation, or the defrost heater, or the defrost timer or adaptive control has a fault . If you have a multimeter you can perform and ohms test on the thermostat which should read around .50 or higher and the defrost heater which usually is around 26-28 ohms. If you had a 0 reading then this would tell you which piece has a fault. I will await your reply as to your finds.
Thank you
Rick
p.s these parts are located behind that inside rear wall panel which is removeable if you were to see any ice up condition on the evaporator coil this would confirm your defrost issue and you would first use a hair dryer to defrost the evaporator coil of all ice.

Frig & freezer not cooling enough. Ice forming in back of bottom freezer.

You need to have the defrost cycle checked.( heater, limit stat, timer) If the frig can't defrost air can't move across your coils to cool properly. To temporarily get by until you can get a repairman, use a blow dryer to melt the ice build up. Once melted it will work normally for about 2 days till it freezes up again.

Freezer side not cold enough, similar temperature as Refrigerator side

It could be many things. My first guess would be the defrost. The coil that gets cold in your freezer builds ice on it and the only way to get the ice off is to run a heater near the coil long enough for the ice to melt. All freezers have something built in to defrost and domestic are typically just an electric heater on a timer. When your freezer stops working again, you may want to pull open the panel of your freezer and see if your coil (a heat exchanger that probably looks a lot like your car radiator) is covered in ice. If it is, it could be the timer or the actual heater that is bad.

Need to replace defrost timer for Hotpoint refrigerator model CSX 20 EASA WH need to know how it look

Its defrost problem, the freezer should cool, then freeze, then defrost cycle should start. In your case freezer is cooling, then freezing, but its not defrosting. That's why fridge section is not cooling.-------

WATER IS LEAKING ON INSIDE SHLEVES OF REFRIGERATOR & THEN TURNING TO ICE. I DON'T HAVE AN ICE MAKER water is collecting on left side only

This is due to your fridge not cooling correctly. When the temp drops low enough, condensation forms. When the cooling picks back up, it freezes. Make sure there is nothing blocking the door. Also check the weather strip around the door to ensure it's seated properly. Over time, these strips become wore out and out of of shape causing air to leak.

Dehumidifier freezes up

Most dehumidifiers need warmer air to work properly. The temperature in a basement is usually 60 - 65F; too cool for standard models. You could buy a "basement" dehumidifier. They're designed to work at lower temperatures; some as low as 40 F. Costs are about the same as a standard dehumidifier; you just have to find it.

For a cheap fix, try this; it seems to be working for me.

Since the condensate coil (the one icing up) is cold, the air entering it is too cool and the condensate frosts up the coil. Additional condensate freezes to the frost and before you know it, you've got a block of ice. Since the air coming out of the front is very warm take a large piece of cardboard around 6' x 3') and form a V. Placed it in front of the dehumidifier so it channels some of the warm air back to the rear where it warms the moist air up before it hits the cooling fins. It's helped keep the ice down.

If you want something attractive, any screen that redirects some of the air back to the rear will work. Just leave the top open so it doesn't get too hot and the some of the drier air gets out into the room.
