The 48 before the VKD in the model number stands for 48000, BTU. For refrigeration, 1 Ton = 12000 BTU. Therefore 48000 BTU / 12000 (1 Ton) = 4 Tons

Why tempstar 5000 High Efficiency a/c outside fan won't turn off ?

Sounds like your contactor is sticking in your outside unit. They could be welded shut.

Tempstar High efficiency 5000 losing/leaking full freon tank in

this system has to have a rather large leak. for it to loose it's charge in that short amount of time, is terrible. there are leak detectors that can sense a leak as small as 1 ounce per year. I strongly suggest you get the system leak checked before putting more "Freon" in it as it will just leak out again.

Trying to find ton rating for a Tempstar 9000 mod# CA903VKA2.

If this is a window or portable unit, you will not find the tonnage only the BTUS. My guess is 9,000 BTUS
3,000 less than a ton

Need to find tonnage of a Luxaire A/c unit serial # ECBM079879...

Get Model number of compressor (all compressors have a tag with a model number on them), and call a dealer who can tell you the tonnage of the compressor which will be the same as the unit.

Note: Write down all the numbers on the compressor to be sure you have the proper info that the dealer will need. Also, you can probably do a 'search' on the computer with the model number of the compressor to find the tonnage.

good luck!

What ton is good man ckl 49 il where is the model number onthe furnace

ok ready for this? To find the tonnage look at the serial # Tonnage is related to 12's If there, on the serial # there is say 0062490 the tonnage is 24 or two tons 24 divided by 12 equals 2 Say the serial # contains 0063090 then the tonnage is 2 1/2 because of the 30 hopefully you see what I am saying the number in the serial # if it can be divided by 12 or 6 this is the tonnage. If you will send me the serial number I will tell you the tonnage. The serial number is on the outside unit at the copper connections where the electrical lines go in.

Good luck on your repairs hope this helped send me a note online here and if you need I will give you tonnage if you send the model # and serial number with your response> I will check online around 1500 hours on 1/9/10 central time. Remember to look for the numbers that are divisible by either 12 or 6 on the serial number

Parts list for Tempstar PGAD60E1K1? Anyone have?

Tempstar will only sell to licensed dealer/contractors. You will have to purchase through your local HVAC contractor that deals Tempstar. They will be able to cross your model # to the correct parts. However, you must have an EPA license to purchase the compressor.

Need to verify tonnage of unit

In almost every case, most manufacturers put the tonnage in the model number. Look for something that is divisible by either 6 or 12. Something like, 24, 30, 36, and so on. Cfm has to match the tonnage. Usually in the neighborhood of 450 cfm per 12,000 btu's of cooling for the inside of the structure.

Hope this helps.
