Question about Maxtor 300GB Ultra16 Kit 300GB 7200rpm 133MBps Ultra ATA/133 (ATA-7) Internal (L01R300FT) Hard Drive
Hi. I have a Maxtor HD as described above. It has 4 Bad Sectors on it. I have tried to repair same earlier, using the DOS version of Maxblast, but it does not last. One of my backup programs will not back up to a drive with Bad Sectors on it. How do I find out whether it is still under warranty ? Many Thanks for any assistance.
I had a similar problem a month ago. Go to the Seagate site(They own Maxtor now) http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/ Click on the Customer Service and support link, then the warranty link. Supply the serial number and they'll give you the warranty info. I got an RMA number from the site, and received my (Refurbished) drive in about 10 days. They supplied a box to return the original drive, and I apid the postage. A very quick, easy and satisfactory exchange.
