For anyone who purchased a Remington electric chain saw w/pole.
DESA, Bowling Green, Ky., who sold these saws and provided
warranties went out of business after 54 plus years last
Dec 2008. I was unable to contact (e-mail or phone) anybody
at this location. Phone system does not route to a human just
voice mail. My warranty expires in May 2009 (expired now already). The number I tried was 800-626-2237. Web site:
desatech.com. I found out about the company folding from a senior
buyer of the retail company which sold me the pole saw.

The chain came off of my Remington 16" electric saw. How do I put the chain back on?

If the saw was at speed when the chain came off there are probably burrs on the chain drive links (the part that goes in the bar). They often cause binding and in extreme case may cause the chain to ride up and off the bar when operated. Use a file on the drive link flats to remove all burrs.

I think your model is 107625. A complete "SPROCKET DRIVE GEAR BEARING KIT 747" part number "122511-01" is listed at $16.99

Are you aware Remington is no longer in production and most replacement parts are exhausted? Before driving to any repair facility please contact them. If you undertake the repair your self please call 1 (800) 475-5660 (have saw within arm reach). Inspect your saw and verify my model number matches your saw.

Please do not punish my rating because you are unhappy with RemingtonPower. I provided a very helpful answer, perhaps not the one you wanted to hear. Sorry

I have a problem with a Remington electric pole saw

Shall we remain friends or shall I be honest? The only thing RemingtomPower is creating today is unhappy customers. They shutdown manufacturing some time back and replacement parts are exhausted.
RemingtonPower.com
http://shoppingcart.msservicecompany.com/Default.aspx
Enter "111409" in the "Search for your unit by Model #:" window. Click “Search” Click "View Model" Click "View Illustrated Parts Diagram"
From reading the IPL the motor is a sealed unit. You can probably drill off the rivit heads and access the interior. I suspect if done you'll find defective gears. You probably won't find any source for replacement gears.
Here comes the honesty. It was a bad design from the onset. There is no bar and chain lubrication and most drive components are plastic. Locating a manual oiler on a component 10 feet above your head is no better. How do you compute operating cost if every 2 years it must be replaced?
I recommend you purchase a name brand replacement, from a company you expect to be in business 5-10 years from now when you require replacement parts. A lower initial purchase price isn't always the best bargain.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but think you already knew it was time for a replacement. I provided a very good answer to your question and should not be punished for RemingtonPower's failure. Sorry

Chain fell off chain saw remington 10" pole saw, need directions to put back on.

Look from the side of the saw the motor/engine to left and the bar nose to the right. The thinnest part of the chain (sharpened edge) on the top of the bar is to the right.
