My camper Ac fan goes off and on several times before the compressor kicks in.

First thing I would check is the power supply. Sounds like when the compressor tries to kick on the amp draw is so high it is causing the fan to act like its going off and in reality all the power is going to the heavy load which is the compressor. A long extension cord could be the culprit or a cord meant for a lighter duty. If you've got it connected with a 25 foot 12 gauge cord do some detective work and check your power connections from that plug all the way to the compressor relay looking for burnt or loose wires. You may also have burnt wires on the compressor terminals. Lastly you may have a compressor that's getting ready to fail and having trouble getting started until it gets good and hot and the tired bearings get some hot oil in them and it finally starts one more time. Hope this helps and good luck.

How do we connect a forest river pod to home electricity? What size extension chord do we need? Thank you Kate

The R-Pod use 30amp power (110vac). You can buy an adapter that will reduce the plug from 30amp down to 20amp which is typically what your home outlets will be. Keep in mind; however, that when plugged into 20amp or 15amp service you will not be able to safely run the AC with any other appliances, or the refrigerator on electric with other appliances, etc. The concept for the adapter is so that you can plug in at your home to a standard outlet to turn on the lights while you pack the camper and load the refrigerator. It is not designed for long term use.

My generator start the breaker trips under load and stops engine but with out load no trips

First check the load and grounding, you will need to measure the amperage draw wih an ammerter, also check to see if it trips when a large unit like a motor or air conditioner starts, it may not be able to handle the inrush. Also be aware that if your breaker is a 30amp does not mean you can pull 30amp you can safely constantly draw 80% of that. Also check your grounding of the equipment you are powering.

Portable generator stalls when load applied

Connect the air compressor to house plug and check amp draw with tester. More than likely you will find that the initial start amp load is too great for the generator. Do not rely on the information stated on the compressor. Generators and air compressors do not get along. At our repair shop, we find that most contractor /construction type generators that were used for running air compressors had failed or leaking capacitors and were not producing correct amount of power. You could have gen set with weakened capacity and air compressor that is drawing more than stated on plate. Good luck

We have s6000 generator and a 38 foot camper that runs on 30amp. Do we need to buy and adaptor and can we use the 30 amp plug on the generator. And do we use the 4 prong or three prong

You will probably have to buy an adaptor. Read the owners manual for the generator, the 4 prong should only be for 240V. The 3 prong should be 120V. But READ the owners manual. If it is this way you should be able to get an adaptor at your local hardware/electrical supplier or any RV store.

Engine dies when load is applied

to sort out you problem i would take the carburtor apart and give it a good clean especially the main jet i would also replace the spark plug just to rule that out it could be a weak mixture causing your problem as you increase the demand for power the throttle will open drawing in mre air & fuel if the fuelis limited due to dirt this could be the cause.
as a quick test run the compressor and close the choke (cold start device) as that will cause more fuel to air and see what happens it isnt guaranteed to work but might give an indication.

Auxiliary battery use

The extra battery is there because of the glow plugs and intake heater of the duramax. During cold weather both of these systems draw high amperage from the batteries. A single battery will function, but not as well as a pair.

Coleman 6250 gen

Assuming there is nothing wrong with the generator, I'm not sure what the Amp rating on a 1 hp compressor is, but starting currents can be 5 or more times the rated current, especially for starting heavy loads like compressors. While the motor only needs it for a short time, if it doesn't get it, it ain't gonna start. If you really need to run this compressor off this generator, one possible solution is to see if the compressor motor has connections inside to wire it for 240 volt operation. I realize in theory you should have available the same full power rating from the generator at 120 v and 240 v. However, many times a motor will still start more easily on 240 than 120, for the same reason that automobile starters went from 6 volt to 12 volt. If you do change the voltage to 240, BE SURE TO CHANGE THE POWER CORD AND PLUG ON THE COMPRESSOR!!!

As a side note, I have one of these generators I purchased as "refurbished", and it is flakey. It works, mostly, but not exactly right. I'm working on it. So anything COULD be wrong.
