Question about Audio Players & Recorders
Hello guys, I'm new to this forum. Can someone help me with my Sony NW-A806? The problems are the following: -when I try to format it's memory from the menu, it says memory formatted but the songs are still there; -when I try and put some new music on it with SonicStage, the music is transferred on the walkman, but when I disconnect it, no music was added to the walkman, memory doesn't fill up -the walkman has the latest version of firmware, but when I try and install a fresh firmware it says "The update tool failed to update the software of the NW-A806 device to version 1.03. To try performing the update again, click [Back]. To close this program click [Finish].
Try to reset your player if that fails then try deleting the songs this way
Deleting Files,Pictures,Videos,Audio Books, Apps,etc. from MP3 Player/Ipod
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------BIG WARNING: DO NOT DELETE THE FILES NEEDED TO OPERATE YOUR MP3 PLAYER.
Hook up your mp3 player to your computer
Go to your desktop and double left click on "My Computer"
When it opens you will see listing that says "Devices with Removal Storage" your mp3 player should be listed there.
Right click on your mp3 player, and a window will open, right click on "Open" and now your files/songs should be visible.
Hold the left click down and drag it across all the files/songs that you do not want this will highlight the files/songs you do not want, release, right click and then click on "Delete"
Now you mp3 player should be clear of the files/songs you do not want.
ONE MORE BIG WARNING: BE CAREFUL AND DO NOT DELETE THE FILES NEEDED TO OPERATE YOUR MP3 PLAYER.
Please take time to rate me

Testimonial: "The solution isn't working. Even if I could find the songs (which I can't because Sony has a way to encrypt it's files) and managed to delete them, when I unplug the player and plug it back in, the songs reappear as if nothing happened."
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

I had the same issue and I eventually re-formatted the player. Once I had finished that, it seemed to work again, letting me add songs.

I have the same problem. Sometimes mine just turns off, then back on plays for 1-2 seconds then turns off/on again, and does it about 4-5 times before freezing.
