It is normal for an air conditioner to leak water. Its nothing to be concerned about.
The A/C unit - freezes metal coils, and then a fan blows air on them which creates cold air that is sent into your home. When the fan blows air on the coils, they start to defrost. The defrosting creates water or condensation which drips out of the A/C unit.
Picture a fan blowing warm air on ice cubes. What happens to the ice cubes? They start to melt and drip water. Same concept.
Hot days make the unit create more water then it does on cooler days.
