Hi daniel, seems as though you do have a wiring problem from the unit. make sure that your yellow wire from the unit is connected "directly" to the +12v battery line permanenly. the red wire should be connected to a "swithched" +12v line from the igniton barrel, OR the red wire can also be connected with the yellow wire directly to battery line. also make sure that the black wire is securly connected to a good ground point. cheers.

Car Radio won't turn on

Did you verify it has 12 volts on it's main power wire? Make sure the ground connection is good?

1 Answer

Why won't it shut off?

Its probably wired to constant power instead of switched (via ignition). Find the switched power leg either with a volt meter and swap the radio power wire. just make sure its not the memory wire. that one needs constant power.

Red accessory wire

The red accessory wire goes to ignition or a switched power source. There should be a blue wire that goes to power antenna.

When car is running the stereo wont power on but when on acc works fine any suggestions

Verify the Constant power source is always on with the key off. (yellow wire)
Verify the Switched power only is on when the key is in the accessory position. (red Wire)
You seem to have an issue with the installation.
If there is still an issue - please reply with your make/model/yr vehicle, and we can further troubleshoot.

JVC car CD KD-R301does not retain time

sounds like you do not have the yellow wire connected to a constant power source. you need to connect the yellow wire to a source that is still hot when the key is switched off.

I want to wire the kd-s640 to my boat. I need to know what wire by color (except black ground) goes where. Thanks.

Usually it's....

black = ground
red = switched battery power
yellow = constant batery power (for clock...etc)
orange = illumination
blue = amplifier turn on or accessory (electric antenna, amps etc)

green/white/purple/grey are speaker wires.

KD-G421 in Vectra Envoy 99

To stop the memory loss you need to swap the red and yellow wires around. (battery power and ignition power).

To stop the date loss, you need to cut the electrical ariel/remote blue wire.
