Cant ge my hp tablet to turn on

If it doesn't anything at all, not a indicator light nothing, it is likely the battery is the problem and will need replacing. Make sure the charger is good first. If the battery is completely open it will not run even with the AC cord connected.

Howto re-calibrate battery

The ununtu system uses considerably less resources than the windows making it light fast and efficient operating system, depending on battery life when it was new you will probably find that when you do the math it is very close to the actual ware that is left, but uses a different approach. I don't know any method to recalibrate, plus your battery still has a good 45 minutes of life left, still worth keeping.

Need driver for webcam (Medion akoya P6612 Laptop / Ubuntu OS)

Try Manycam and see if it works with Unbuntu. Go to www.google.com and in the search box type: "download cnet" (without the quotes) and go to their site. Look down on the left and you will see a gray box that says find software. Type in: "Manycam" (without the quotes) and go download and install it. It's absolutely free, no trial period and it comes with application and I think driver. Give it a try. Be sure not to accept any buggy stuff that it will ask you during the install.

I'm looking for a Windows 98 driver for a LaCie 500G external hard drive.

You don't REALLY think that LaCie would pay a programmer to write a driver for a NEW piece of hardware to run on an OBSOLETE operating system, do you? Have you looked for a driver on the LaCie website? If you didn't find one there, I GUARANTEE you that you won't find one ANYWHERE, because drivers don't write themselves.

Of course, you can always call the company and complain, which is a waste of time, or pay a programmer to write a driver for it, or learn how to program and write your own driver. If you DO write a driver for it, you MIGHT be able to sell it to LaCie, if they're still in business by then, although the odds are excellent that nobody will want a Win98 driver by the time you learn how to write drivers.

My advice is, get a modern operating system, which will have all the drivers for your external hard drive embedded into it. Ubuntu is a good choice if you prefer Gnome, or Kubuntu if you prefer KDE.

You're running Windows 98, you probably have old hardware (similar to what I use), so in that case, you might prefer to use Xubuntu, which runs great on older hardware:

http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/xubuntu/releases/maverick/release/xubuntu-10.10-desktop-i386.iso

or Lubuntu, which is designed to save energy, which makes it great for older battery-powered equipment such as laptops or the new netbooks, or even for old desktop systems:

http://people.ubuntu.com/~gilir/lubuntu-10.10.iso

Pick a new OS and get rid of ALL the Windows ****: no more antivirus, antimalware, antispyware, or antiscareware programs running all the time, no more nasty ActiveX controls which allow your system to get infected when you open Internet Explorer, no more rootkit problems, no more need to defrag ANY hard drive EVER... Get rid of Windows, get rid of the headaches, and get FREE drivers that will work with your new external drive as soon as you plug it in.

Switch to Linux, and make your old hardware run faster than ever before.

ASUS Eee PC running Ubuntu will not boot after pressing the power button. I have already taken the battery out, tried ac power only, pressed the reset button, and checked the RAM. The indicator lights are...

Hi! Please check the motherboard for blown or corroded capacitors. If the capacitors are faulty it can result to a sudden reset or no boot at all. YOu can determine a blown capacitor if it has a whitish powder on the top or theres a leak on the top. Once replaced you'll be good. Hope this helps and have a good one!

ok you cut the CMOS battery, Remove the Laptop Battery, and the AC Adapter. leave them both removed for 30 seconds. and if you still cant get out of it. Contact Toshiba Spare Parts for a new motherboard. The above solution is the only way to get it to come back.
