It sounds like the diverter is not fully opening to allow the water to run to the spout. If the diverter is in the wall, perhaps there is a seal in there that needs replacing. If it is in the spout, just replace the spout,

My Delta kitchen faucet is putting out small black particles with the hot water. What can I do to stop it?

Is the kitchen faucet the only problem? If not, then the water heater or other problem may exist in the water system.

When you run the hot water, are the particles always coming out or do they go away after while?

Black particles can be caused by carbon water filters. Do you have a filter? Those particles stop over time.

Washers and "O" rings that are wearing out can cause black particles. I would check under the sink to see if you have any slow drips. You may see white, green or black colors along the fittings.

I've also seen black particles from algae in the line. Maybe there's a leak somewhere in the system that dripping and cause the algae to form? Inspect your water lines and checking for leaks anywhere in the system may help. If you turn off all your faucets, washer, hose bibs and check the water meter, is it still moving? I'd check it every 15 minutes for an hour to see if there is a slow leak.

Here's a diagram that shows all the parts:

I'd also take out the aerator and see if it's clogged.

You may have to change the washers and "O" rings.

How to open stanley fatmax knife 10-778 TO CHANGE THE BLADE. thank you

How do I change the blade on the quick change/instant change knife? Warning: Blades are sharp and can cause serious injury. Be extremely careful when handling blades. Wear eye protection and dispose of used blades properly, such as wrapping in duct tape.

FULLY EXTEND THE BLADE.

Press down and forward again on the slide button until the button is in the full front of the top slot (0 through 3 in the below picture).

Note- the blade must be extended beyond the 3rd detent position. This will cause the slide button to remain in a down position, allowing the blade release button to operate.

PRESS AND HOLD THE BLADE RELEASE BUTTON ON THE FRONT SIDE OF THE KNIFE. (Step 4 in the below picture)

Note- if the blade is not fully extended beyond position 3) , the blade release button will not work.

Remove the old blade carefully.
Insert new blade.

NOW, RELEASE THE BLADE RELEASE BUTTON.
ENSURE THE BLADE IS LOCKED IN PLACE. If the blade does not retract, try carefully giving a slight tug on the blade to reseat.

I have a Moen tub and shower system similar to the Moen 2919 Chateau two handle above. When I turn on the faucets up to 1/2 way everthing works fine. If I try to increase the water capacity by turning up...

To talk about your problem forces me to assume a few things.....If you allow the water to flow without cartridges and handles, the water must be flowing straight through the cartridge channels and out into the tub. It is not flowing through your tub spout or shower head when you test the water this way. If I'm correct, then the problem is isolated to the water mix operation. That means coming out of your spout or shower head. So now I have to ask a question. When you operate as normal (cartridges and handles installed) does your problem show up only on your shower head or does it also show up when operating out of the tub spout? If the problem is isolated to the shower head, try a head replacement. It may be partially plugged. If it's head or spout there may be something in the mixing pipe that only shifts around as pressure increases. I hope that is not your problem. It would require pulling those pipes out for inspection and most likely replacement. Nimsgame

It sprays fine but off the spray thair is no presuser . we replaced the water lines in the house we have good preasure though out our home jest not at the kitchen sink

One of the greatest things about Franke Faucets is that they have a lifetime guarantee. If you recently changed the waterlines in the home then more than likely when the water was turned back on or lines pressurized the settlement in the water main (Outside of your home) was activated and clogged the aerator. Most aerators simply turn counter clockwise (With the water off) after remooving the aerator simply clean and dislodge any particles in another sink. As for the pull out, some models have an inline screen located between the hose and the faucet handle. Simpy remove the handheld faucet (With the water off) and clean the screen.

We just installed a Moen Banbury songle handle faucet, and we have very little water pressue. The pressure in the rest of the house is fine, and we cleaned out the aireator filter. Any ideas?

Hi jaryan--
Sometimes when you valve off a water supply, particles of rust or mineral deposits break free and travel along down the pipe when the water comes back on, only to stop when they reach a small opening. In this case, it could be the faucet's supply line.

You already cleaned the aerator, which would have been my first suggestion. The next step is to visually inspect the supply lines for the faucet. Are any of them kinked or twisted? If they look good, the next step is to valve off the water at the shutoff valves closest to the faucet-- they should be on the plumbing under the sink.

Next, disconnect the supply lines to the faucet at the point closest to the faucet. Using a bucket, aim each supply line, one at a time, into the bucket and slowly valve on the water. How is the water pressure? Do any rust particles come out? Flush each line until the water runs clean and strong. Before you reattach the supply lines, use a flashlight to check the hardpiping on the faucet itself and visually check for any obstructions. Remove any suspected blockages manually.

Reconnect the supply lines to your faucet and check its pressure again. If the faucet's pressure is still low, you may have a clog in the faucet's interior mechanism.
--Hope this helps

How remove the broken bathtub cartridge(Moen 1222)

The exact procedure to remove the old cartridge is with a plastic removal tool. With replacement cartridge you have to buy this plastic removal tool. Also there is same metal removal tool available. With the help of this tool you can easily remove the old cartridge.
Moen Cartridge Replacement Instructions

Moen shower faucet cartridge replacement is a project that will take some time to get done right. When is it time to replace a Moen cartridge? If you are like most people, you won't want to replace your old Moen cartridge until your old cartridge is starting to show its age.

Replacement is necessary, usually, once the old faucet starts to drip. Thankfully Moen faucet cartridge replacement is not difficult. However, if you are uncomfortable with doing the repair yourself, do not hesitate to call a professional plumber to do the job for you. This will guarantee that the job is done right.

If you follow these Moen faucet cartridge replacement instructions you will be able to replace your old cartridge by yourself. First of all, as with any plumbing repair, make sure that the water supply is turned off. Open the faucet to remove water pressure from the lines and let the remaining water drain from the pipes. You will then need to remove the faucet's handle by removing the decorative cover and removing the retaining screw. This will allow you to remove the handle.

Once the handle has been removed, work on releasing the splash plate from the wall. Generally there will be one or two screws to remove and the plate should release from the wall easily. From here the process begins to get a little trickier. Insert a shower stem socket onto the faucet valve's retaining nut and release the nut. Your Moen cartridge removal will be complete once you grab the cartridge with a pair of pliers and pull straight out to remove the old cartridge.

Clean any surfaces that you have access to and replace with the new cartridge. Follow all of the previous instructions in reverse order to re-assemble your shower faucet. Check to make sure that all the connections are tight before turning the water back on and testing the system out.
Now in your case the broken/cracked while removing the old cartridge so try this procedure carefully to get the stuck -up old cartridge out.
TAPPING the Threads into the Cartridge:
Carefully  hold one tab on the cartridge tight against the brass lip on the faucet body with needle nose and try  to drive the 1/2" tap into the smaller bore of the cartridge. It will take  about 15 minutes to slowly work the tap in all the way (maybe 3 turns?). Then  back out the tap... remove needle nose. [remember to turn the tap 1/4 turn back, for each 1/2 turn forward ... this clears the metal particles from the tap and makes the next 1/2 turn forward go smoother].

Next, assemble a 1/2" x 4" threaded rod, so it had threads all the way to the two jam nuts on one end)... If you use a bolt, get one with threads all the way up to the head. you may find it hard to find - so try a carriage bolt and spin a nut all the way up to the head .... continue:

next on the bolt goes a 1/2 nut (this is the "jacking nut") and a flat washer so the jacking nut can spin easily against the next piece, a 1/2 drive socket (7/8" ) with the square hole toward the washer and jam nuts ( bolt head ).
The open end of the socket faces the brass body of faucet and rests on the round brass lip... having the same inside diameter. This allows a space for the cartridge to be pulled into ( a cavity). Thread the bolt into the tapped cartridge and snug it up so the 7/8" socket is aligned with and resting against the brass body. If the cartridge spins smooth, the threaded rod is GREAT. You can just work with the 1/2" rod and use needle nose (or similar) to stop the  cartridge from spinning, to get the rod threaded into the tapped threads in the cartridge... then, slip on the socket, washer and nuts.

Now snug it up tighter. Check socket alignment. Then begin turning the jacking nut ( the "extra" nut) until it contacts the flat washer and 7/8" socket. Now, as you continue to tighten the jacking nut, it will pull the 1/2 bolt (threaded rod) away from the faucet... and the cartridge will come along too. [You have to prevent the 1/2 rod from spinning while tightening the jacking nut. put a wrench on the bolt head.]
This procedure is bit lengthy and requires some appropriate tools, but this will release the stuck cartridge out.
Thanks. keep updated for any more query.you can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

Slow water flow

first try and clean the air ratter where the water comes out the faucet it is a screen that un screws off the tip of the faucet. these can get clogged up over time from sediment and particles in the water. if the screen is fine then you can try and replace the supply lines to the faucet if that still doesn't fix it then you will need to replace the faucet because it has clogged up from minerals and particles in the water and there is no way to clean out the inside of the faucet.
