A cutoff switch will disconnect loads that are connected to the battery. A battery selector switch can switch your load from one battery to the other , combine batteries together or disconnect all loads entirely.

When in the off position, the switch cuts off all power from the battery to any loads connected down stream from the switch.
Sometimes float switches and other devices are connected directly to the battery. Therefore the battery selector switch will not disconnect this load when switched to the off position.

My 2002 Nissan Xterra was flipped on its top, wasn't upside down very long and I'm thinking it should run.Is there an emergency fuel shutoff switch or a reset you have to do before it will restart

Most Vehicles DO NOT HAVE An Emergency fuel cutoff Switch . This was something ford did in the early 90s but now the computers can communicate and disable the fuel pump if necessary. Try disconnecting the battery for about 30 minutes or so. If it still won't start try listening for the fuel pump....it should run for a fee seconds when the key is turned on

How to program the ac

It sounds like you have either a low pressure cutoff switch that is faulty or connection at the switch/wiring. The computer will only see the fault while it is operating and it will only set the code after 2 consective faults. Make sure you have the system checked by a professional to make sure pressures are correct in the system first.

94 mercury grand marquis LS wont start. Turns over. Replaced relay, checked fuses, replaced fuel pump ( tho didnt need to- wired it to car battery and it does seem to work.) Will run with priming (starter...

Hello, There is a fuel cutoff switch in the drivers side of the trunk. It is referred to as the Inertia sensor. It will detect an impact and disconnect the power to the fuelpump.

If you look at the drivers side of the carpeted trunk there will be a slot in the carpet or a hole. All you need to do is push on the switch button and the system will reset. If you have air ride the Inertia switch is next to it.

Pulled out the dash fuse to get the draw out of the battery, i have no dash gauges.what could be the problem

Replace the dash fuse. If the draw on the battery is a big deal, invest in a cutoff switch so that the battery is not being used when you don't want it to be.

I reset the fuel cutoff switch in a 91 ford escort and it still won't start so I disconnected the battery for 15 minutes and it still won't start. What else can I try and would a bad switch or fuel relay...

yes a bad fuel cut off switch could be the problem, it just has 2 wires all you have to do is jump them together if the switch is bad and the fuel pump will run. I think you should take a look at the timing belt more then likely that is the problem.

Battery Cutoff Switch

Best source for reliable battery cut-off switches I know of would be any speed shop that deals with drag race cars. Most "doorslammer" race cars, (bracket cars through pro-stock) are required to have these switches mounted on the outside of trunk lid... Of course, you can mount them inside the trunk, or anywhere else you wish!
