Question about Maytag Performa PAV2200

1 Answer

Maytag Performa I have a Maytag Performa. It is leaking water. I have replaced the drain hose, which I thought was the problem, but the water seems to be coming from underneath. I have also experienced alot of shakig and "walking" of the machine when it is doing a load. It tends to act as if it is not balanced even though the load is light or medium weight and the clothes are evenly distributed. Can anyone tell me, is this washer able to be saved? Should I buy a new one?

We have one of the famous "Look at me dance" Maytag Performa washers. It has served rather well for several years but has begun to Two Step around the laundry room every time it is used. I checked all the springs but all was well there. I could push the drum to one side and it would not come back to center. I felt that it did when new. I turned it on it's side and gave the swivel plates a good dose of WD40. Then when I pushed the drum to the side, the springs wound return the drum to center position. BIG MISTAKE! It is impossible to use now. The drum is not loose. Mechanically speaking, ever thing looks to be in order. What should I do, trash it?

We have the amana LWD70AW which is the same as the maytag performa I believe. It also leaks from the main drum in the middle of the machine, and now I think that leaking has caused the bearings to go bad so it sounds like the house is going to lift off the foundation when we wash clothes. It doesn't dance around too much but sure sounds terrible. Piece of junk machines in my opinion. Also have determined not worth repairing either.

This is the lesser-expensive model of the Maytag lines, and rumor is that another company contracted to build them cheaply. Also, I read in the consumer-review opinions that this model shakes and walks a lot. Even with new motor mounts. To answer your questions: - Yes, it could most likely be saved. If you give a repair tech enough money, they can perform miracles. - Should you buy a new one? Yes, you should. Even if you repair this one now, it will break down again in six months. And again after that. And so on. I'm sorry to tell you this, but it was just built that way...

Pressure switch?

sounds like you are having a syphoning issue. caused by having the drain hose too far down the home standpipe. very common problem. test..fill the machine, high water level. when it stops filling turn off. advance into spin/drain for just a moment and shut off. listen to hear water still going down the drain.
repair.. raise the drain hose nearer the top of the stand pipe. also do not tape/seal the hose into standpipe. it has to breath. good luck. kihm washing machine drain hose installation Google Search

Replace drain hose

if u add an extension to the drain hose it will take a long time to and go down the pvc pipe. Just check for clog. by giving it for service one time may work.

My Maytag Performa Dishwasher is leaking when doing the dishes...

Sounds like your fill valve is stuck in the filling position...see if you you have water standing in it a couple hrs after a drain cycle. if it does then the valve needs to be replaced or you can take it apart carefully,(there is a sping that might fly out and get lost) and clean it. Mine had some small trash in it from the city water line.. The left side has an over flow hole is where your water is coming from..

yes im a expert (laugh)...your drain hose is to low..the drain hose must go up the height of the unit abut 3 feet before it can go down...now if you have your drain hose connect directly to your drain pipe ,,the waste pipe will **** the in coming water right out of unit,,we call this a sphion effect...booth easy fixs,,,onthejob

Maytag Washer overflowwing

I had the same problem. My whole basement flooded. Inside the back (you can see it thru a small hole 1/2 way up on right) a small white hose connects to the water shut off collection area. This hose carries the water from the tub to the collection area and tells the machine to cut off for the size of load selected. Mine had come undone and so the machine could not sense it was full and the water poured all out the bottom. I simply removed the small gray panel at the bottom on the back and reached up inside to reconnect.

Water out of washing machine.

Sounds like the machine is not at fault. The problem is probably the pipework that takes the water out of the building, it could be made up with lime & wash powder residue. Try running some water into the wall outlet pipe, & see if it overflows, if it does you need to dismantle & clean it

My washer just keeps trying to fill

check the height of the drain hose. if you aren't seeing a leak on the floor the drain hose might be below the height of the tub. the water always seeks the lowest level and if the hose is too low the water wwill run right out

Maytag Performa Washer

when you put the drain hose on the floor the water will ALWAYS drain out. When the drain is in the proper location (above the height of the tub) and the water is still leaking, if its leaking as it fills you might have a loose hose,or a cracked water inlet valve. If after the water is in the tub and its still leaking you have a bad seal.

Leaking dishwasher

when you state "there is water leaking out of the drain hose", then that leak must be fixed either by a new hose or to repair the hose. as far as the timer issue, i need more info.
