SOURCE: LG BD350C Bluray Player won't read 1gb MKV files from USB stick

Your USB device needs to be Fat16 or Fat32 but as for reading mkv files I have the same issue. Not to mention it playing divx files in a choppy fashion.

SOURCE: Can't play mp4?

You could try a piece of software called mp4cam2avi. It turns a .mp4 file into an xvid/divx .avi file, without actually needing to recode the data, so the quality is just the same!

(If you enjoyed this solution and want to do me a favour - can you confirm if your Nikkai A99HR device works okay with external hard-drives? :)

SOURCE: Hello, Ive bought a LG RH387H

The manual does not specify the usb size max.
I would expect not more than 8 GB to 32 GB max
Also remember fat 32 cannot support large file sizes more than 8gb

There must be some sort of copy guard designed in the hardware to prevent usage with another machine to make sure it stays with the original owner. I have come across this the odd time to prevent transfer to another machine. There might software that may be able to help you to solve the problem.

Usually you can if it is a USB 2.0 or 3.0 port. Depends on the video format too. (.avi, .mov., MPEG...)

My set recognizes my USB stick, but will not play

Will not play what? There are some audio and video formats that Smart TVs do not recognize. You need to check the owners guide to determine which formats/file extensions work and whether or not there is a specific way they must be placed on the stick. Be advised that some files may have extensions that according to the owners manual may be supported, but the extension may actually be incorrect (such as an .mp4 file listed as .avi). These mislabeled files will usually play in PCs because the media players will recognize the correct extension and automatically use the correct decoder/codec.

Can't play USB MP4 on LG RH397D

The LG RH397D only supports MP3/WMA/JPEG/DivX image and audio files from a USB drive. There is no firmware update that changes the supported file types. You will need to convert the MP4 to a supported format. The manual for the RH397D is available from LG: http://www.lg.com/au/support-product/lg-RH397D# /

I wish that I had better news for you.

Lg dv6h not reading all files on hhd do i have to do a firmware update

I just bought this DVD player and I can tell you that it probably is working. At first I though the USB browser was bust, but what happens its that by default it only shows you music - no idea why. When browsing a harddrive with the LG DV6H, you need to push "title" to have it switch between media file types that you are browsing for. Just change it to Movie mode and voila!

I have a **** Smith GE4203 DVD player, but none of the "MPEG4" files I plug in with a USB stick works. The machine recognises an AVI file, but doesn't play it. What settings should I use?...

Rip your DVD's using XviD format and not DivX and they should play just fine.

A good free software to try is "Winx Free DVD to XviD" but you'll have to have unprotected DVD's or rip them to the hard drive first using DVDFab to remove the protection or just have Slysoft AnyDVD running.
I set the video's audio to mp3 format (128Kbps 48000sample rate), and the video to 25fps(because in Australia we have PAL format), output profile to keep original size and aspect ratio, and video quality to about 1500kbps.
You won't get much benefit from a higher bit rate then that on a GE4203 screen and you could probably even go lower if you have speed or sync issues with the data rate. Even 1200 looks good.
