Question about HP ProBook 4510s Notebook
Recently I have lost the use of some of my keys, specifically the first row - Q to P? How and why would some keys work and others not? How would I go about fixing this? I have already tried updating the drivers.
To determine if it is a motherboard fault or a faulty keyboard, connect an USB keyboard to your laptop. If the external keyboard functions normally the the laptop keyboard is faulty and needs replacing.

The issue could be with many cause. In order to isolate this issue I request you to perform the below steps :
To get started, find a soft, lint-free cloth and some window cleaner like Windex. Turn laptop upside down and give it a gentle shake. This will clear out dust and debris that has fallen in between the keys. If your vacuum has a soft brush attachment, you can vacuum the keyboard gently, too.
Now, spray a tiny bit of Windex on your cloth. You do not want it wet, just barely damp.
Gently scrub all the areas around the keys of your keyboard. Watch for an excess fluid squeezing out of your cloth. Should this happen, dab it up quickly.
Once the housing for the keys is cleaned, focus on cleaning the keys themselves. Gently stroke the keys with the barely damp cloth, repeating strokes until each key is cleaned.
Badly soiled keys can be (try and if are not difficult to pull them out do not attempt) pried off the board, cleaned and snapped back into place.
You can clean crevices by wrapping your cloth over a table knife and carefully and gently running it between keys. Do not push down into the mechanisms below the keys, though.
Once you have cleaned the keyboard to your satisfaction, let it set to dry for half an hour, just in case it is damp.
Also note that office supply stores sell cans of air. It's not just air; it's air that comes out of the can with enough pressure to push dust out of places it shouldn't be. The cans come with little straw-like tubes that you can attach to the sprayer so that you can get inside your removable drives and between the keys of your keyboard.
*** Uninstall and reinstall Device drivers from Device Manager ***
1. Click Start, type Device Manager in search field.
2. Click on Device Manager.
3. Click "+" beside Keyboards Device Category.
4. Right-click the listed Keyboard and select Uninstall.
5. Restart the system.
Windows will redetect the device on restart and reinstalls the drivers automatically.

if the keyboard is fine and you checked on other computer then it shows that the application you are working has gone corrupt, try to re-install OS and application software.
Also try to check with USB/External Keyboard..
