Re: Ports wont open.
With a Xhone 6211-13 ADSL2 rOUTER, assuming that there is no firmware/hardware problem and that you have an active Internet account with your ISP, you have to connect the router directly to one of your PC (where you will do the configuration)(not through a switch or hub) and manually configure the PC's network interface: IP address - 192.168.1.2; Subnet Mask - 255.255.255.0; Default Gateway - 192.168.1.1
Check with your browser if you can already access the net, if yes then you have to probably set all your PCs to manual network config by just changing the last digit of their IP add. If still a no go, then....
log in to your router 192.168.1.1; username & password are both admin (default not unless it has been changed); at the Web Interface Home Page/Paradyne ADSL CPE Homepage check the general status & WAN settings. There would be indications that you are connected to the net.
If you still cannot access the router (albeit being directly connected to it via a lancable, then check router's cable, if good but still no internet, then something is wrong with your router. Try hard reset (small button between LAN and Power at the back of the router, press for about 5 seconds or until it has re-initialize. Try again 192.168.1.1 in your PC's browser, if good, try internet browsing, if no go then something is wrong with your router.
Hope this gives you some idea. Good luck and pls post again how things turn up. Kind regards.

make sure that your xbox is acctually getting an ip address, by default it should be a 192.168.0.xx number and the gateway should be 192.168.0.254 If however your xbox tells you that its ip address is 168.xx.xx.xx (a private ip address) or if it is simply 0.0.0.0 it would sugest a cabling problem. However if the network troubleshooter finds no faults and you are still unable to get into xbox live try setting up a PPPoE connection using the username eircom and broadband1.
Alternatively,If you click on Firewall in the Netopia admin page, and set the security level to Low, xbox live would suddenly start to work.
******Also add UDP ports 88 and 3074 if nothing works. On a netopia 3347 you can get this option in the NAT option.U have to enter the port numbers and the service name(xbox).
Hope it works for you.
The ports that need to be open to connect to the game server are fowarded to your machine and can't be used by another connection. You'll have to release the ports with the router configuration utility in order for another machine to use them. Better still see if you can find out what range of ports the game can use and forward a different set to his machine. Then you can both connect at the same time.
You might try removing any firewalls that might be installed such as Norton. I have seen Norton, as well as other firewalls, get corrupted and cause problems like this. If that is the case, try starting Windows in safe mode with networking and see if you still have the problem. If not, it is a firewall issue.
