My Philips LX3600D returns always to stand-by mode

I think my problem is that the speakers are not properly conected. How can I recognize the (+) cable? I know that if the (-) cable is conected into the (+) switch, the equiptmet doesn´t work, returning always to stand-by mode.

The speaker cables for the LX3600D are: (+) is blank, whereas (-) has slightly shaded bands along it. Once you see these bands its easy to open up the connector and check they are the correct way around.

Hi all, I have a Philips Lx 3600 Dvd HTS and the DVD is not working. I would like to replace it, but it is also the builtin amplifier for the 5.1 system. Is it possible to buy another DVD/amplifier that is...

I have the same issue but it looks like buy a cheap philips DVD 5.1 with the EASY CONNECTORS and link to your existing speaker set. The new speakers can act as a fall back to your existing set.

Philips LX3600D Home theatre always returns to standby mode

There is a 1ohm resistor on the 4x4 pcb as soon as you take off the cover. ( I forget the ID # ) It supplys the -15volts to the control bd. The resistor will not looked burned. It was under rated. An ohm meter will find it ( open ). Rreplace it with a 1/3 watt. I believe the orig. was a 1/4 watt.

Common problem with the Philips - here is how to fix this issue:
There are a few possibilities.
1)You can connect a red and white AV cable (or the red and white portion of a red, white and yellow cable) from the TV Audio OUTPUT to the "Audio In/TV" portion of the HTS (NOTE: Many TV's do not have an Audio OUTPUT).
2)You can connect a red and white AV cable (or the red and white portion of a red, white and yellow cable) from the Audio OUTPUT of your cable or satellite box to the "Audio In/TV" portion of the HTS.
Note: Using a red and white cable may not give you sound on all 5 speakers.
3)Get a digital audio or SPDIF cable and run it from the TV, Cable or Satellite Box's Digital Audio OUT to the "DIGITAL IN" of the HTS. This will give you the best sound quality. When using this (or any of the other) type of connection, press SURR until you get sound from all 5 speakers.
Also, the manual can be obtained from www.usasupport.philips.com

Dis-assembling subwoofer

Unless you are good with wiring and can accept having the front cover broken, then you can do it yourself. The speaker protector can be gently pried off but will probably break if not done perfectly. If you get the front cover off, there should be 4 screws holding the speaker. Remove them and then you can see inside. Take note of how the resisters are attached. You may need to solder if they are separated. If you are confident handling this job, go for it, if not, take it to your local repair shop.
