Stuluscity is correct..on another note, if hte needle is fine---you may improvise to put a little weight on top of the needle..just try a light weight thing...

Hi, most likely the diamond tip has broken off your stylus. Remove stylus from cartridge and inspect under magnification. Replace if tip is missing or damaged. Cheers John.

The tone arm drops onto the record, but then continues moving across the record without playing the record. Anyone know what's going on?

Does the needle actually contact the record? If not, you may be missing a "pad" under the record, or you may be simply missing the needle that needs to be there to follow the grooves.

Why is my crosley turntable skating across records?

First feel with your finger at the tip of the stylus. It should be sharp. If it's not report it back to the place where you bought it.
If it's sharp, then the weight on the end of the arm might have moved, meaning there is no pressure to the stylus. You can look up what it says in the manual about stylus pressure.
The other way is to test and adjust. If the weight has numbers on it set it about the middle of the numbers. Then try a record, if it skates, stop and increase the weight by moving to a higher number, not much, then test the record again. You keep doing this till the stylus stays in the groove. However don't increase it that much so it rumbles when in the groove. If that happens reduce the weight slightly and test. I find it best to test with headphones on.

Needle slides across record

It could be 3 different things. The first is check the needle make sure its not dirty. the second is make sure the weight is set correctly. And the third is did you take the tone arm off the protective part that holds the tone arm in place when moving or travelling .

I have a sony PS-LX33 turntable. When I try to play the record, the needle gets stuck in one position and will not move across the record. I have fitted a new stylus but still does not work. Can you help...

First check that you can move the arm right across the turntable platter. Do this without a record to avoid scratching it. If you can take it to the middle at the same height as a record then no mechanical fault is present.
That being OK it perhaps means that too much weight is being applied to the stylus. You can adjust it with the weight at the end of the arm. It should have numbers on, try it on 1 or 2 to start with - playing a record. The idea being to get the pressure just right without making it jump out of the groove or too heavy giving a rumble sound. It's a question of trial and error.

Digitech turntable - skipping stylus and arm

You might need to apply more pressure to the stylus. There should be a weight on the end of the arm, it should have a control to move it up and down. The only other thing is the stylus damaged from transit?

Adjustments on Technics SL-B2 Automatic Turntable

the pitch is just the speed, adjust to your liking.

"How do I adjust tracking pressure and anti skate?
If you are lucky enough to have these two adjustments here's how: Move tracking force counter weight till needle suspends/hovers above record. then rotate numbers to zero. (this is zero grams pressure on record) then rotate weight AND numbers to recommended tracking pressure for your needle usually 1.5 to 3 grams is average. Then rotate anti skate to be equal. That should get you there. If you still have adjustment related distortion then it may be time for a new needle.
NOTE: Anti skate is adjusting side to side pressure WITHIN GROOVE of record. Tracking pressure is how hard the needle is pushing down inside the groove." from

lots of crackles are caused by crummy records and needles. to some small degree are unavoidable no matter what, but above all the records must be clean.

someday the manual may show up for free here
