Central Heating - Ignitor starts but no gas

I am having a problem with my heating unit. The board is GMP100-3. When I turn on the heating unit, the inducer motor starts, ignitor glows and then nothing happens. The gas will not flow in to start and ignitor turns off and whole thing stops. This repeats for 3 times and then systems shuts down. I do hear few clicks during this cycle. What can possibly be the problem? Can anyone help??

    Isn't flame sensor far away from the ignitor? Mine is on the other side, in front of the last gas pipe. I thought that flame sensor is to detect the flames coming out of gas pipe and not the ignitor. Is there a separate flame sensor near the ignitor??

Check the flame sensor near the ignitor....it could just be dirty. Check that first. Check the electrical connections to it. Also, check the flame sensor's position. It must be within the correct proximity of the ignitor to tell the gas valve to open. Make sure the gas is on to the unit.

    From another forum on this unit:

    At the top of your burner section there is a flame sensor.
    It is a rod metal rod with ceramic around it.
    It has one wire coming from it.
    Remove the sensor . get steel wool, not sandpaper.
    Clean the rod section.
    Put back together.
    This is an easy fix.
    But remember to get your furnace serviced as there is a reason that you have a build up of **** on the sensor.
    ===================

    There is a pressure switch near the inducer (about a 3" diameter circle with at least 2 wires and a plastic tube running to it) that checks to see if the inducer blower is running and if the air is flowing through the heat exchangers. Does the inducer motor come on? If so, put a volt meter across the pressure switch terminals. If it is working there will be 24 VAC across it when the furnace comes on and when the inducer gets up to speed, the switch should close and the voltage will drop to zero.

    If there is never any power, check all of the wiring to the switch. Also check the voltage from both wires to ground. At least one should have 24VAC when the furnace is on.

    If there is constant 24VAC then you might have a restriction in the vent or pressure switch tube, or you might have a bad pressure switch.
    =================

    Make sure the furnace intake or exhaust isn't obstructed by debris or animal nests

I have installed a new Goodman furnace Just before summer, everything was, Ac and heating, but now gas es turns on for a few seconds, then is turned off.

Clean your flame sensor with soft wire brush. It is located opposite side of igniter. Builds up with glossy coating and doesn’t sense the flame so it shuts off the gas valve

MY carrier model #58DHC with hot surface ignitor has quit working. Blower works, but no heat. If you turn the thermostat to on fan will run but no heat. Did preliminary testings with self test on printed...

If you suspect its the ignitor? The hot surface ignitor is powered by 120v. Inspect ignitors' hot surface for cracks or burnt spots. Uplug ignitor from board. Cycle heat on and verify 120v to the ignitor at the cannon plug on the board where the ignitor plugs in. If you have the voltage then replace the ignitor. If not, you'll need to verify all other circuits are working before condemning the board. Work safe and at your own risk! Hope this helps!

I have a westinghouse 476 gas oven, the oven does not turn on all the time the ignitor heats up but no gas comes out. when i take the cover off the ignitor and tap on base of oven it ignites and works...

It sound like you have a valve problem some types of ignitors have a heat release valve, by hitting it you cause this to release, I would suddjest replacing the ignitor unit but this requires a Gas Fitter that is approved, as all sorts of tests, requires specialised equipment, if you have gas central heating, the service engineer could perform the same for your cooker. remember to ISOLATE MAINS POWER if this model uses it for ignition.
Hope this has been helpful

If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.

If you have an electric dryer, you can have many different things that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.
