I recently purchased a used admiral window unit air conditioner. The remote I was given with this unit was a whirlpool air conditioner remote that looks to be brand new.It does not work with the admiral air conditioner. I am wondering if it needs to be programmed somehow or is this not a replacement for this air conditioner at all.

- That is easier said than done!! I have searched everywhere to find out how I could replace it with the model that it should have but with no luck.
It is an Admiral 10,000 btu window unit...model AAW-10CR1FHU. If anyone has any ideas, they sure would be appreciated!!
I have that model Air conditioner with remote. Although the remote is marked Admiral thats the only identifying marks on the outside. Here are pictures of the remote.

Here is what is printed on the battery compartment cover label.
Hope this helps. You might try a company called Vance Baldwin they usually carry a large inventory of remote replacements for all kinds of applicances. Had to get a remote for my Panasonic DVD player and it was only $12.00 (brand new)
well different remote brand doesn;t work at all they have different designed frequency reciever.
in order to work,it is more convenient to replace by the same brand and model.

mer. It does blow refrigerated air (just doesn't feel like its cold enough), compressor comes on, etc. I set the "temp" to 64 (lowest) put it on "low fan", "power save". It cycles like it's supposed to, then the temp gauge for the room temp goes to 64 or sometimes even lower (I know it is not 64 degrees or lower in my house) and the compressor goes off. If I put it on "high fan" and "cool" it seems to bypass the temp setting but it still doesn't seem to get cold enough. Any ideas? Coolant leak? Thermostat problem? This is only it's second summer.
