Is the cooling fan for the compressor working? There is a coil of the condenser line that runs around the freezer side. This will get hot but the cold freezer side keeps it form not getting too hot. It could get very warm if the freezer is not cold yet.
Compressor should rapidly bring pressure down from standing pressure to running pressure when switched on. If no change, compressor not pumping. Make sure the line tap valve isn't leaking, and the gas you used was correctly charged.
Many times a freezer and/or refrigeratordo not work right because of a dirty condenser coil...there are also many otherthings that can go wrong.
If you are hearing a clicking or buzzing thencheck out the last two tips.
If your refrigerator is running but warm, then...
Check out these tips that I wrote about that... it is a great place to starttrouble shooting your unit...and something that you can do rather then callinga repair person to do a simple thing for you...
Most of these have a fan that blows the cold air for the freezer into the refrigiator section. If the fan quits running you will experience your problem.
In the Freezer or Fridge compartment, there is the Evaporator Fan (& Motor) If the freezer is cold, the Evaporator fan motor most likely went bad. Check to see that when the compressor is running, so should be the fan motor. If not, you have to remove it & replace it. It is not an expensive repair unless you call for service on it. Make sure that you unplug the fridge when you replace the fan motor.
check to see if the compressor is running, if not you may need a start kit, (relay, overload) If the compressor is running take the back freezer panel off and check to see if there is a frost pattern, might be out of gas if frost pattern has receeded
hi andy, based on your story, i think the humming sound is coming from the compressor trying to start and the clicking sound is when the overload trips and make that clicking sound to turn off the compressor but it does resets itself so it would humm again after a few minutes and tripps off again..try to unplug the unit for a day to cool off the compressr and then plug it back. if it will happen again, you need to replace the compressor. i hope i was able to help..
If the compressor has a fan next to it, be sure it is running. if the relay is clicking every few minutes it may need to be replced. contact local parts distributor.
