Dryer not powering on

The second frying of the switch indicates a major problem somewhere. Start at the receptacle and work your way back to the inside of the dryer and see that everything is tight. I think you will find that the problem lies at where the wire ends at the block inside of the back of the dryer. This might be ugly. Dryers conduct a lot of heat and electricity and can be safe if wired properly. Your breaker may need to be reset. Turn it off and then back on to get it to start up.

Dryer electric when i push the start button nothing happpens

Make sure you have 220 Volts of power at outlet, check circuit breakers. Then, with dryer door open, look for door switch actuator on door. It may be broken. Use flat screwdriver to manually push door switch in, then push start.

MAytag dryer will not run. Has Power but will not start. No sensing light.

Was your dryer taking a long time to dry clothes? If so you should first check your vent and then suspect your dryer thermal cutoff.
Or,
this problem could be your door latch switch. Is your door more difficult to open, OR, sometimes pops open / or opens really easy? Then your door latch switch could be bad.

Maytag dryer

• Be sure the door is latched shut.
• Be sure the power cord is plugged into a live electrical outlet.
• Check the home’s circuit breaker and fuses.
• Press the START button again if the door is opened during the cycle.

If everything checks out ok with the above check list, you may have electrical motor issues. I would run a break point test on the motor and the control panel as well. (You will need a Voltage needle to perform a break point test.)

Has a household fuse blown or has a circuit breaker tripped?
There may be 2 household fuses or circuit breakers for the dryer. Make sure both fuses are intact and tight, or that both circuit breakers have not tripped. Replace the fuse(s) or reset the circuit breaker(s). If the problem continues, call an electrician.
Is the correct power supply available? (Electric dryers only)
Electric dryers require 240-volt power supply. Check with a qualified electrician.
Is the dryer door firmly closed?
Your dryer door may not be fully closed. It may look shut, but may not be latched. Push on the door to engage the latch or latches. Some models have an upper and lower latch. Both latches must be secure for the dryer to run.
Was the Start, Push to Start or Hold to Start button firmly pressed?
Large loads may require the Start, Push to Start, or Hold to Start button to be pressed and held for two to five seconds.
Is the Cycle Control knob set on a Sensor Dry or Timed Dry cycle? (on some models)
The Cycle Control knob must be set in a Automatic Dry or AccudryTM or Timed Dry cycle. The dryer will not start if set on the Wrinkle ShieldTM option.
Is Controls Locked status light on? (on some models)
Press and hold the Cycle Signal button for three seconds. This will turn off the Controls Locked feature.
Did you recently install a power supply cord on the dryer? (Electric dryers only)
The power supply cord may be incorrectly installed. If the power cord is incorrectly installed, the dryer may not start or heat. Review the Installation Instructions to check that the power supply cord is properly installed.

After removing the dryer from on top of the washer, I found it was easy to expose the back of the control panel containing the Power On/Off switch. A quick check of the switch's continuity confirmed the bad switch. However, after reinstalling the switch connectors and plugging the dryer back in, the switch started working. It appears the problem is intermitant.

While the internals of the dryer were exposed, I also checked the door switch (which was good) and sprayed electrical contact cleaner on all of the switches and vacuumed out the dust and reassembled the dryer (which is now working) and ordered a new Power On/Off switch so I will have it when the switch mis-behaves the next time.

The most difficult part was removing the dryer from on top of the washer where both units are built in to a wall of cabinets.
