Front load washer unbalanced

Hi, my washer will spin perfectly if it is empty. But as soon as it has some clothes to spin out, it will become unbalanced at higher RPMS and start knocking and dancing about. It then shuts down the spin cycle and tries again. But, oft course, each time it is unbalanced so the spin cycle never completes. What causes the drum to be unbalanced when even a small load is in there, but balanced when empty? Thanks

SOURCE: maytag performa washer

Hi Folks,

I'm guessing both of these problems are related to the belt slipping. There are several points to check.

  1. the belt tension. I'm not familiar with the exact details of your machines, but the usually have a an extra pulley with a spring attached to give the belt tension. Alternatively, the motor is mounted on a movable frame that is held by some springs. These springs give the belt tension. In either case check the freedom of movement of the tensioning arrangement and the springs are providing the necessary tension to the belt.
  2. Glazed belt/pulley - if the belt has been slipping it will polish the pulleys and this will reduce the friction necessary to drive the machine. To fix this the belt should be replaced and the pulley surfaces roughed up with some wet/dry emery paper (not too rough or it will wear your new belt out).
  3. Belt is too old - the rubber becomes hard and brittle and ends up with the same effect as Glazed belt/pulley above. The fix is as per 2 above.
Good luck

SOURCE: My washer keeps filling with water even after the

The washer valve may be sticking if it allows water at the wrong time. The other part is a float (like in your toilet tank). Run a load of towels with a full load of water and 1/2 cup of vinegar no soap the first time normal the second time. The float should get a cleaning, withe the float eliminated (mechenicly) Test to see if it still over flows, If you have to get the valve replaced make sure there are screens with the washers so nothing else will get stuck again.

SOURCE: washer makes noise during spin cycle

It could be that your drive coupling is getting ready to puke. Mine did. I also had a part fail and drop between the washer tub and the housing that surrounds it- Made a hell of a noise when the washer was spinning. I fabricated a new part/assembly to fix it. All mass-manufactured products have the same flaws. Cause they are all the same! I own a Kenmore Elite- if you don't, this may not apply to your problem.

My bravo washer is not starting a cycle when I press start button. Also water is still in tub from last load that did not drain.

Sounds like you washer is trying to spin out and becoming unbalanced and cutting off.. Move timer to spin and see if water spins out. If so try running a load and say with it so if it becomes unbalanced you can arrange clothes before returning timer runs out.

Loud banging noise during rinse

Most noises from a washing machine occur during the rinse or spin cycle. If you hear loud thumping during the spin, the load of clothes may have become unbalanced. Stop the washer and redistribute the clothes, then re-start it. Repeat these steps if necessary. This will solve your problem.

Vibration of wash machine

Hi!

Stop the washer and redistribute the clothes, then re-start it. Repeat these steps if necessary. If there's a loud thumping noise during the spin cycle, the load of clothes has probably gotten unbalanced. Open the lid, redistribute the clothes in the washer, then re-start it. Repeat these steps if necessary.
