My built-in DVD Writer is somehow damaged and my OS need a fresh re-install. I planned to buy a external DVD writer for my notebook PC, When I enquired at tech-support about whether it would work in installing my OS (as it need to be detected my BIOS) they said I have USB foppy detected by BIOS so "Hopefully" it should work.
Now I am in a fix
Help!!!
Now you have to deside weather you want to buy a U.S.B. floppy Drive or U.S.B. optical drive.
Both has to work ,but for a try if you have any existing drive ,just buy a external U.S.B. casing and fit your or any existing drive in it.Just try with it.This is more costeffective solution
It is very simple to install a new internal DVD/RW. There is only one screw on the bottom of the laptop that holds the module in. Remove that screw, slide the old unit out, and insert a new rom. Don't forget to replace the retaining screw.
Hope this will solve your problem, and please feel free to rate this advice.
Good luck
